Chapter 26

The next morning, Jamie walked outside to the pool. He stood there in a rope with his feet inside the pool. Patiently, he waited for Adam to wake up. Adam didn't wake up till noon.

" My dad suffered a heart attack while arguing with someone on the phone. It was Roman and it was about some business they made. I guess the rumors are true and he is the devil."

Adam said walking only in boxers to take a sit next to Jamie.

" The funeral is at three today and tomorrow morning he's going to be buried. In his will, he left to be buried next to Cooper's mom. Can you believe that's the only thing he left in writing? We all have rights now to the company and Cooper is not even here."

" We need to go grab me some clothes. I'm not letting you go by yourself, Adam." He took a grab of Adam's hand. " Thank you," Adam said before jumping into the pool. After he took a swim, Adam went inside for some black clothes. Leaving Jamie alone at the door. Who still was staring at all the portraits.

" Ready let's go. Or we are going to be late." Adam opened Jamie's door and ran to his side. He drove passed by every light to Cooper's apartment. " Go, I will wait for you here." Jamie panicked for a second and turned to look at him. " I promise, I'm not Cooper."

With his heart beating loudly, Jamie ran inside hoping for Cooper to be there. He wasn't and everything was still in its place. Jamie pulled out a black t-shirt and took off his. He quickly fixed his hair before stepping out.

" No luck," Adam said with sunglasses on like Cooper. Making Jamie laugh and himself too. " Drive, we don't want to be late."

Took another hour for them to get to the funeral. " Woah, it's packed," Jamie said as they walked to the entrance. There were even people outside. " My dad was hated but was well known," Adam saying hi to everyone excusing them through the crowd.

Everyone they knew was there even the janitors.

Taking a deep breath, Adam walked to his father's casket. He took a knee down and Darell with Clifford walked to him. The three of them for the first time in ages, hugged. Everyone froze for a second surprised by the interaction. Alice had to walk to grab Jamie. Since he couldn't believe it either.

" Dead brings people together sometimes." She whispered to him.

The pastor soon walked by them and began the ceremony.

" And now some words from one of his sons, Adam Valdrogen."

Jamie let go of his hand for him to walk to the front.

"Hi, thank you for coming today. I know my father wasn't the best man always. As sons of his know this better than anyone. We were raised to be perfect and to work as hard as him. He showed us the business through discipline and selflessness. You know people have always told me I'm the spitting image of him. And it's true and not just from appearance but by heart. We are cold-hearted and selfless. Till I met someone who showed me how to love. He never got to truly know what love was. You guys know about my half-brother Cooper. Who is not here with us and has completely vanished. His mother was the only woman my father loved. And I think if she hadn't died. My father wouldn't be in this casket right now. And he wouldn't have been the man he was. I ask all of you here to forgive him and forgive me. May he rest in peace, thank you."

Together all the brothers stood up in front of the casket. As people walked to say their goodbyes. Jamie waited with Alice for the siblings to finish saying their goodbyes.

Three weeks later

Today Adam has been voted as the new boss of the Valdrogen Company. The brothers got each a percentage of their parent's things. Clifford now owns the house of his parents. Alice and Darrell now own all their cars and limo service companies as well.

Jamie is back to working at the Valdrogen company. Except now he is the personal assistant of Adam. He changed a lot of things since he became the new owner. The building and offices have so much life now. Different colors on the wall and more light to each one of them.

" Are we ready for the meeting?" Adam asked hugging Jamie from behind.

" Yes, we are boss." They made out for a few seconds before walking out. Behind them joined Alice and Darrell. Both are now on top like they are.

In the meeting office sat the Bronson family and their new assistant.

" Gentlemen, let's get started." Adam pulled out a chair for Jamie right beside him.

" Before we start, meet Eliseo. Our new assistant is like you." Roger said to Jamie smiling. Eliseo stood up and shook hands with Jamie. " Now we can begin."

Darell got to the front of the table and began the presentation. When Jamie noticed Eliseo looking at him. He was so different from him, full-on a mustache and bad eyebrows. Although, he was very handsome. I'm not going to lie there was something sketchy about him.

And trust me I was not wrong about it.
