Hi.
This is the author addressing you, the reader.
Thank you for reading! For the many of you who left comments, hearing me thank you isn't new, but I can not understate how thankful I am that you read the story. I genuinely can't express in words how much I love you all. Thank you so much.
This story started out with three things: I read a betrayal story where my brain decided it would have been better if Percy didn't believe his friends betrayed him, I saw some of the Polympians stories on Ao3 and thought "Hey I could do that with the primordials," and lastly, the song Title by Meghan Trainor, which, if you didn't mute it, should be playing right now.
Obviously, Percy doesn't have the same relationship with his lovers as the relationship described in the song, but things do change.
There was going to be a somewhat jokey line about that kind of relationship with Apollo, but I cut it.
Speaking of possible things, this story gave me two or three separate writing blocks. The idea of Percy's lovers fading didn't come to me until, like, a chapter or two before the first one went.
For a while, I wanted to delve into Percy being incredibly powerful and disconnected from his mortal friends and family because of that, and even the the big delve into it was scrapped, the broadstrokes of that idea are still in there.
Messing with time could have gone two ways: the way it did (the way I like more) or a time loop scenario where Percy is trying to perfect his first re-contacts with everyone he knew. The last chapter would be Nyx taking notes on the most recent attempt.
Over the years Part 2 was ALWAYS planned. Seriously, that chapter was in my mind since the first Over the years.
If you've read other fanfics or looked at the list of primordials, you might be thinking something along the lines of "Hey, uh, where tf is Ananke?"
And the answer to that is kinda dumb. (At least I think it is.)
Basically, when I started writing, I decided it would be cool to try and connect my Percy Jackson stories. Ananke is an important part of that.
Unfortunately, I forgot to explain what happened to her in the chapter SPECIFICALLY DEVOTED TO ANSWERING EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO ANSWER.
Which was my mistake. But the gist of it was that she "faded" a long time ago and became part of the Fates consciousness. So basically gone for real.
And with all of the stuff that could (or should) have been out of the way...
It's weird to say I finished writing this. It's only been a couple months, but not returning to this and writing a chapter that will make the readers hurt (in a good way) will be strange.
I'm glad that the last few chapters managed to be so impacted as to take away some readers breaths, that's a big accomplishment.
(Obligatory self promotion time)
Should you wish for more PercyxPrimordial stuff, I will be bringing a story out of hiatus. It's called It's not Stockholm Syndrome, is it?
And it will be PercyxTartarus, except also my first attempt at a slow burn. So... who knows. Oh also probably masochism.
(Self-promotion time over)
And now, we're here. The final couple sentences in this story. I hope everyone reading this enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
I can't find a good way to end this, so I'll just end it here.
Goodbye and goodnight!
