Part 7: The Lecelnan Incident, 35794

"Lecelnan Envoy"

The 13th Flight attached to the 12th HB-Division dispatched to the planet of Thuia are now deploying with a different diplomatic envoy, though with the same diplomat on board, Robert Forester. This time however, to avoid potential mix-ups with Lecelnan air defense coordinators and avoid causing an international diplomatic incident, it has been decided to simply fly through Thuia's mantle.

The HSF-14s assigned to the flight alongside the diplomatic aircraft itself have their energy shields and engines on mantlecruise mode, a fairly straightforward shield-engine configuration that allows the aircraft to travel at usual speed through magma and almost every kind of rock-based planet's mantle. Their onboard weapon systems also fall under the shielding's protection.

The aircraft zoom through the planet's mantle at a decently fast pace, and specialized cameras equipped on the aircraft flicker to life, as the New World Union was not going to pass up on an opportunity to document the planet's interior, should they discover anything of interest. Mission command's hunch would be proven valid, as the aircraft buzzed a large station floating in the mantle.

The AI-controlled cameras identified this and immediately fired off drones to gain a basic idea of the place, the diplomatic envoy leaving these drones behind. The escort now thankfully was not held up by dragons or anything of the sort, and the vehicles simply flew uninterrupted towards the designated exit point. The drones formed a beacon, sending out a request for a Marine detachment to interact with the station.

The envoy flight also encountered two more similar bases, the drones repeating the scene from earlier. They set up a beacon for Marines at the base, and like before, were met with zero resistance. The flight flew forward through the magma, Forester eating a composite grilled cheese (Type OB) inside the diplomatic-modified IC-41 in the center of the formation. Not long after Forester finished his grilled cheese-OB, a red holographic circle was visible in the crust above them.

This was the designated breaching point. The flight then reformed into a circular formation, flying straight into the circle and emerging from the ground with a massive upheaval of crust material following. The material immediately fell away due to gravity and started falling harmlessly onto the ground. The flight performed a sharp gliding turn and dropped altitude as they did so, coming to rest on the Lecelnan International Airport's tarmac in Tohacsaza.

A downward escalator dropped and Forester walked down it, eventually meeting up with his security detail. Forester looked around, noting the airport's decent appearance and the notable lack of people. Forester proceeded towards a hovercar that was prepared for them by the Lecelnan Foreign Affairs department. They entered now, getting comfy in the vehicle and adjusting their seats. It was far more primitive than in the New World Union, but still bore some slight form of texture-comfort to them.

A man called Matthias Anders and a group of other Lecelnans begin to creep into the Foreign Affairs building. They are armed with the standard Lecelnan rifle, the LA-74, chambered in 6.5x49mm. The group spends a few minutes pushing through empty but lavishly-decorated hallways, eventually finding a door leading to a garage.
