"I told you this before. You're a sweetheart and not a hardass like you come off to be sometimes," said Roman. Colt breathed out in relief as he faced the swimmer.
"Trust me," the werewolf scoffed. "Ask anyone here and they'll tell you just what kind of a hardass I am."
"Nah. I mean, I didn't hear what that lady was saying to you but just from her conversation with Trevor and how she mentioned you...and her body language at the door here. She respected you, Colt. You don't earn that sort of respect by being an asshole," Roman explained.
"You're just blinded by my charms," Colt tried to joke as he flicked Roman's nose, making the swimmer chuckle.
"Maybe a little, but I can still be objective. Plus I'm minoring in psychology," Roman winked.
"Alright my little shrink, I hope you're hungry because I've cooked enough to feed a small army and—"
Colt was once again interrupted by a knock. The werewolf cussed under his breath at whoever disturbed him as he took off his apron. Roman chuckled at how frustrated the man looked, but he didn't exactly blame him.
This time, it was Trevor. His face resembled a puppy that had been kicked as he stood at Colt's doorstep. Colt could tell he was itching to come in but he would never do that without the Alpha's permission.
"Did Vanessa fucking snitch on me?" Trevor asked, sounding a tad bit hurt. "I babysat for her last weekend! And then she goes ahead and tells on me? The goddamn audacity!"
"What makes you think she told me?" Colt questioned, making Trevor roll his eyes.
"She may be a snitch but she's a sweet snitch. She told me that she told you. Apologized but said that she couldn't keep things from you. Which, I mean, I get it, but still...she snitched on me!" Trevor sighed. The corner of Colt's lips rose up in an amused smirk as he shrugged nonchalantly.
"Well, thank you for handling the matter well," Colt stated politely. Trevor smiled in return, feeling a sense of pride because of the compliment.
"Hah, it's all good," Trevor waved his hand dismissively. "So, Roman huh? How's it going?"
"Uh..." Colt didn't reply as he heard footsteps closing in. Roman walked to the door, joining the two men with a welcoming smile.
"Trev, hey, thanks for letting me in buddy," Roman said. "We were just sitting down to eat. Wanna join us?"
"Trevor! What the fuck? When will you learn how to bloody park? Your car is blocking mine aga— oh. Hey Colt. Roman," Theo spoke as he walked up Colt's porch.
"We're having dinner!" Trevor exclaimed excitedly.
"Okay, but I swear I'm stealing your license and—"
Colt sighed. He wanted some alone time with Roman but...when he glanced at the swimmer who had a tender smile as he watched the brothers bicker, he felt his heart melt again. Maybe Roman could use a little more distraction.
"Come on in, you both. I've made enough for everyone." Colt mumbled the second part, "I hope."
He did say that he cooked enough for a small army, but three young werewolves...yeah, they had an appetite.
The moment everyone walked into the living room, the two brothers took a whiff of the air. Their reactions were completely opposite.
Trevor, smelling the arousal still in the air and the fact that Roman was wearing different clothes than what he had arrived in, including Colt's t-shirt— glanced at the Alpha with a teasing grin. As if he knew exactly what they had been up to. Colt narrowed his eyes at him, as if telling him to cut it out already.
