Roman couldn't recall the last time he felt this way. There was only one word to describe it, and that was free.

Being in the water had been his solace for as long as he could remember. He began learning how to swim when he was four, and nearly two decades later, it was still his only form of peace.

Even though he enjoyed the thrill of participating and the adrenaline rush that came from winning, he had begun to lose touch with what made him fall in love with water in the first place. But he was finally reminded of it again as he dived into the lake.

Colt stopped after a couple of laps as he went out of the lake and sat at the edge, watching his mate in his element. Roman was beautiful to look at no matter where he was or what he was doing, but at that moment, he seemed ethereal. Colt could spend a lifetime just staring at him and he wouldn't grow tired of it for even a single second.

Watching Roman at practice was different. There was something... something so pure about the way he moved in the water. As if he was almost made for it. Time passed, but Colt wasn't complaining. He could spend an eternity like this.

Roman looked at the werewolf as he motioned at him to come closer. Colt was no one to deny his mate, so he dove into the water once again and swam closer to him.

Roman wrapped his hands around Colt's neck as the Alpha kept his on Roman's waist. Both of them were naked, yet the energy between them wasn't sexual. It was something much more than that.

Roman rested his head on Colt's chest as he felt the man's heartbeat. It was pounding just as fast as his.

"Thank you," Roman whispered. "I needed this. Thank you."

"You don't have to thank me," Colt spoke. "I'd do anything for you."

Roman looked up, his eyes staring into Colt's and he saw nothing but the utmost sincerity in them. He had his fair share of trust issues, but he did not doubt Colt in the slightest. He just knew that the man was saying the truth and nothing but the truth.

Colt passed Roman a small smile as he brought a hand to the swimmer's face. He caressed his cheek gently and Roman simply could not hold back any longer.

Roman leant forward, closing the distance between them as he connected their lips together. He knew that he had told Colt that he would take him out on a date first but he couldn't wait any longer to kiss the man. There were forces beyond his understanding pulling him towards Colt and all he could do was go with the flow.

Colt was stunned.

Not because Roman had kissed him, but at the sudden wave of emotions that surged through his body the moment their lips met. It was as if ecstacy was cruising in his veins, going from tip to toe. His grip on Roman's waist grew tighter as he moved his lips against Roman's, kissing him deeper.

He was a man addicted, he knew it. And he wasn't scared of it anymore. There was no going back for Colt now. He did not care what came between them, Roman was his and nothing was ever going to change that. Colt would go to the ends of the world for him. For his mate.

On the other hand, for the first time in his entire life, Roman felt like everything made sense. He didn't know how else to explain it, but it felt like everything just fit. Like puzzle pieces coming together, as cliché as that sounded.

As someone that had never had one, Roman finally felt at home. It became synonymous with Colt, and Roman did not think he could let go now.

Both the men tried to catch their breaths as they pulled away. Colt rested his forehead against Roman's as he pulled him closer, wanting to feel the swimmer's body against his own.
