fake date to family party with Sirius Black
The chandeliers twinkled elegantly as people commerce below. I held a permanent smile on my face, ignoring the dirty looks as I held tightly onto Sirius' arm. He squeezed my hand, lowering his head to my ear.
"Are you sure you're okay with this?" He whispered quietly and I nodded.
"You want to make your family mad. I get it." I said back, my mind flashing back to when he asked me.
"You'll piss them off. Please, be my date!" Sirius begged, dramatically on his knees as I sat on the couch in the Common Room.
I laughed, "Okay wait, let me get this straight. Your family is hosting a party."
He nodded, "Unfortunately."
"And because your life's mission is to piss them off, you want to bring me, a Gryffindor, as your date to said party?"
"Uh, yes." He confirmed and I nodded.
"Okay, so, red with sparkles or no sparkles?"
His eyes lit up, "Sparkles, duh."
I smoothed down my dress as he smiled, "You do look beautiful, Y/n/n."
My heart skipped a beat and my stomach did flips, "You do too, Siri."
My back straightened as a cold voice spoke to us, "Sirius." An older woman said, her lips drawn in a tight line as she looked me up and down. I felt small under her gaze,
Sirius nodded with a tight lipped smile, "Mom. This is my girlfriend, Y/n." I looked at Sirius silently as he called me his girlfriend.
His mom nodded, "She's quite... her dress is not appropriate for this gathering."
I scanned the room and she was quite right. Everyone was wearing dark colors, blacks, browns, greens. Definitely not bright red and definitely no sparkles.
"I think her dress is quite beautiful, as is she. You'd have to agree." Sirius responded civilly, smiling as he accepted two glasses of champagne from the waiter's tray.
"Thank you." I muttered kindly and the waiter smiled before walking off.
Sirius' mother rolled her eyes as another voice spoke, "At least she has manners, unlike you, my son."
Sirius stiffened, "Father."
Sirius' father gazed down at us and I stood tall. My hands were shaking but I needed to provide Sirius a rock. I needed to let him know that as long as I am here, there's no need to be afraid of the man.
"You weren't invited." His father said shortly.
Sirius gulped, "Well- I-" He stumbled over his words and I placed a hand on his chest, stopping him from talking.
I smiled at his father, "Yes, however Regulus had mentioned it, so we assumed the letter must've gotten lost. We're so deeply sorry for barging in, it was an honest mistake, Mr. Black."
"Reggie told you?" His mother asked, seemingly feeling betrayed.
I panicked for a moment, "No, we simply overheard him talking with his friends about it."
Sirius' father studied me carefully, "What is your name, girl?"
"Y/n L/n, sir." I said, holding out my hand to shake his.
He ignored it, a disgusted look coming across his face instead, "A L/n?" He looks to his son who lowered his gaze. "Not only did you come uninvited, you brought a L/n into our home?"
I looked between Sirius and his father, "I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't understand. Do you know my family?"
His lip curled into a sneer, "Unfortunately, I do." He said simply and walked off, his wife on his arm.
My smile dropped and I stepped in front of Sirius. He kept his eyes on the ground and I gently tilted his head up with my hand.
I placed my hands on his cheeks, making sure he's looking me in the eye, "Don't let them ruin tonight. You made them mad, that's what you wanted. Now let's have fun, it's a Christmas party after all."
He smiled, "Yeah, let's have fun."
Sirius and I laughed loudly as we stumbled out of the Black manor, tipsy from the amount of champagne we consumed.
"The way she looked at me!" I said through laughs and Sirius laughed even harder.
"She fucking hates you!" He agreed as my abdomen began to hurt from all the laughing.
It was silent once we calmed down, the only sound being the crunching of the snow beneath our shoes as Sirius walked me home.
"I had fun tonight." I said, breaking the silence.
"It wasn't fake." He responded and I furrowed my brows.
"What?" I asked and he stopped, turning to me.
"Well, it was. But I didn't want it to be."
"The date?"
"When I called you my girlfriend. It was fake, but I don't want it to be." He explained and my heart practically stopped.
I smiled, "You don't?"
He shook his head, "No. I want to be your boyfriend more than anything, I want you to be my girlfriend."
I nodded, taking a step closer so we were chest to chest, "Then ask."
He took a deep breath, "Will you be my girlfriend?"
I kissed him softly, smiling once I pulled away, "Does that answer your question?"
He laughed through his nose, "No, I think you need to do it again."
I laughed as well, giving him another kiss. This one is longer and deeper. The cold air of the winter night was beat by the warmth of his love.
