chapter twelve—can i drive?
Hermes said he just couldn't. Annabeth got up and got mad walking away. "Super helpful!" Inez said to follow Annabeth.
Adeline sat beside Hermes and felt something in his pocket she grabbed it without him knowing. It was his keys she smiled and took them as he finished talking.
"They're right to be mad.." Hermes said as he took a sip of a drink he had. Percy and Adeline were gonna leave but Hermes said one last thing.
"Makes you feel any better it won't be much use now anyway."
Percy turned back "What's that supposed to mean?" Hermes looked at his watch.
Adeline walked off to the front entrance and saw a sign. "It's Thursday??" Percy followed.
Annabeth and Inez were already there. Annabeth spoke "He kept us at the table knowing time was going!"
"Good thing I took this!" Adeline said taking it out from her pocket. "Are those his keys??" Inez said.
Adeline nodded. Annabeth sighed "Wow so now all we to do is find his car and it will take us anywhere!"
Percy spoke "Hermes told me something else the reason we can't feel time passing is because of the lotus fruit.. they pump it into the air! He said there was something we have to do before leaving.."
"Grover.." Annabeth said.
Adeline spoke "Uh.. who's that?" There was another Satyr walking down the stairs. "Damn Grover got kinda old how long have been here?!"
Annabeth walked up to the man "Hey! We're looking for our friend. Have you seen him!?" The person started running away.
Percy and Adeline ran after him but Annabeth and Inez ran the other way to cross him. He ran all on the tables.
He jumped off but Percy tackled him to the ground "Where's Grover!?" He said in an angry voice.
They ended up getting told where he was they walked around and found him playing VR.
"Seriously.." Adeline said.
She walked up to him "Grover..?" He ignored but she took the headset off of him.
Grover looked confused but spoke "I was just about to win!" Grover didn't remember them and he forgot about everything!
"We're your best friends..." Adeline said. Grover shook her hand "Really?! Cool!" He said.
"Oh boy" Inez said. They walked down to the parking lot level and started to try and look for Hermes car.
Grover still didn't remember them "Guys this quest has been fun so far! I'm excited"
They found his car and he left them a note. "Should have known the god of thieves notcied his pocket was getting picked."
Annabeth opened the note so there was a back door to the underworld, magic word, map in the glove. He also said they'll become travelers once they're on the road.
"Can I drive?" Inez said. They let her since no one else knew. Adeline gave her the keys and she started to car once she did she crashed into a car. "Oh.. my bad! That was on me!"
Adeline sighed "Note to self never let Inez drive anything..." Inez clearly wasn't a good driver. "It's okay.. you got this!" Annabeth said.
Inez drove and she did better Annabeth smiled at her sighing "Nice" she said.
Adeline was relieved so was everyone else Inez smiled and started to drive out the parking lot.
Annabeth smiled at her and Inez smiled back but she was to busy smiling at her that she started to scratch the car into the wall.
"Oh shoot! My bad once again." She got so distracted she started to crash the car even more and once they were on the road there was a truck coming about to hit them.
But they were somewhere else.. they all got out the car. Grover spoke "You guys are my best friends..."
It was raining where they were.
They smiled he was back.
"I think I gotta go meet my dad now.." Percy said. Adeline smiled "We'll be right here when you get back.."
Percy sighed "What do I say to him?" Percy said. Adeline looked at him as the wind blew through her face and rain on her hair. "You'll know" she said to Percy.
Percy smiled at her and started walking off to the water he saw to see his dad.
The others watched him leave no matter what they'll always be waiting for him..
