"When I eat ice cream i look like a fairy princess and feel like tinkerbell, it is so yummy." says Summer on our way to... my own must... a book shop, after bribing her with a double portion of ice cream: bublegum flavor and chocolate caramel with a an added flake, which i had to fight the desperate urge not to steal and bribe from her too... i love Flakes.
Well, in the book shop you see Summer had wondered from the childrens books section while I had my back turned searching through maps and travel books, into a spiritual book section, and had picked up and bought to me, placing in my hands, three of Lorna Byrnes books, now i'd never heard of this author before but Summer wanted me to read the books with the baby girl angel on the front, the big pink heart and the angel wings... which were Love From Heave, Angels In my hair and . my Guardian Angel, My best Friend. I quickly skimmed over the back and decided that My Guardian Angel, my best Friend, and read that it was a selection of short stories for children about angels of God, God and Jesus written by mother and daughter, i decided it would be perfect for bedtime stories, for her, not me, haha but i was highly interested myself. Love From Heaven seemed like the perfect bokók for both of us and I would read Angels in My Hair, but that wasn't all... Summer had gone back to the shelf and picked up all of the books by this author, as well as one called "Quitting Squirrels" (yes, indeed, there was really a book about squirrels... a gardening book having a joke about everything in the garden, animals and plants alike, as far as i could figure.) and a book about....... erm.... Hitlers raighn and insanity murder plan... called the gallery of madness and miricles by Charlie British, and she said, "presents for me and presents for you from me!!!" (I was already giving Summer 20 euros pocket money a week by the time she was 5 years old, that was as long as she helped me to cook and clean and tidy) but that would only pay for two books... I said i'd have a laugh with the squirrils one, thank you my dear, but there were much better books i'd love a lot more than the one about Hitler's curruptive state of mind... how to tell a child no .. like a pro!
So, Summer zoomed around the shop and came back with Stephen Kings Inomnia and a book by Issac Asimov called Extraterestial... and these were the ones that SHE was going to buy, and not myself, which bought a lump to my through but i decided i'd expalin at the till that she was buying them for me........ i didn't let a 4 year old read horror book, and darn would she be tallented if she could and i would be so proud! my proudness overriding the nightly screams of terror! haha.
I'd read many parts from all of this author Lornas books and decided..to buy them all!! Absolutely!!! Something in that section caught my eye............... I told Summer one minute while i double check for any more we've missed... and she shouted out that we are now playing a game of hide and seek! before I could ask her please not in a shop lest i couldn't find her (and she was kidnapped... i left that bit out of course, but this is always a parents fear.) or before i could say alright, i'll close my eyes and count to 40, i wasn't sure which one yet, i'd be sponanious... errm...
Summer was GONE. I turned... and she was just gone. She'd vannished. I thought she'd somehow ran to hide so fast while i had my back turned, but took tallent as i thought i'd turned in a split second... i thought i'd count to 40, then, since the game had started, and looked at the books while doing so, deciding also to get..................... the year book of HOPE which i remembered Kezia reading, and several by Jackie Newcolm, and one about Relationships and marriage based on jesus's teachings - The new Testiment study, and last one.... (I collect books, you see. I have my own library at home.) a short strory called Repentance In Christ by Angel mary Clement.
That should do, into the basket, now, where IS SUMMER? I called out her name jokingly, seekingly, pretending to be confused and forlorn trying to find her hiding place, until i'd searched the entire shop and then i called out her name panicingly and paranoidly, deeply confused and forlorn, and went out of the shop, called her mobile but it was switched off - no battery power - Bother! Searched around the corridores, constantly coming back to the shop, and before leaving the shop where she knew i was so would come back to me there if she thought i was taking to long to find her, and wished to END THIS GAME!!!... i went up to the counter of the shop and asked the young man there to please call out her name on the shops speakers and ask her to return to the book shop till where her father was waiting.
"This one too: The one with the pretty but cool looking men on it... with a book, a really really cool book, with lots of pictures daddy, i'd like this one too. especially perfect for me, very yummy lush book. Beautiful!"
"where..."
"Your daughter - absolutely - repeat her name and i'll speak to the mall for her to come right back here! oh, its always worrying when a child goes missing!"
"No, she's here, this is her. We were playing hide and seek and i couldn't find her anywhere, and now she's appeared again." I was so happy to have her back happy and safe that i bought her the last book anyway.... "Death Note." it was called, an anime manga comic book. How..... interesting...and curious... i better read that first before i let her, just incase its a bad influence....
"Sir." the shop keeper said to me solomely and looking me straight in the end said, "She has never left your side once. She has been following you around holding your hand and laughing the entire time you were searching this entire area of the mall...."
"Impossible!" I said.
"She was even talking to you."
"I was talking to GOD." she said.
A picture from years ago appeared in my mind, reliving the scene i took out a small piece of paper from Summer's carseat ... a bit of the holy bible and it said: "God makes what is unsees Seen and what is Unheard Heard."
