Mabel spends the next morning with the Murrays, meeting them for breakfast before they leave.

Leighton's dad had knocked on their door at six, quietly asking if anybody was up, while Mabel had been sitting on their couch. She was grateful for any distraction, so she wrote a quick note for Leighton before she joined him outside and carefully closed their door. He had only nodded and smiled when she told him Leighton was still sleeping.

In between bites, he was asked her all about about Essex and solemnly promised that he would definitely come to one of her games. Mabel's dad had never bothered to show up to her games, so it was hard to believe that her friend's dad would, but it was still nice to hear how convinced he seemed.

Normally, she would have been quite overwhelmed by spending hours with people she had just met, especially if they were her friend's parents, but Mister Murray engrossed her in interesting conversations and Misses Murray seemed friendly too. Mabel honestly found it hard to tell what she was thinking.

After he had run out of questions, Mister Murray began to gush about Leighton and how proud he had been to tell everyone she was going to Essex. The way he talked about her was so sweet, and Mabel could clearly tell that he loved her a lot. It was nice to be reminded that Leighton had someone like that.

Nico and Jenny join them at the car after breakfast. They look pretty tired, but they definitely left the wedding earlier than the girls. Nico jokes about Leighton's drunken state the night before, earning him a displeased look from his father, who tells him to just get in the car.

They all say goodbye and get into the car, while Mister Murray stays behind.

"It was really great to meet you Mabel. I'm glad my daughter has someone like you as her roommate. She's really lucky," he tells her beaming.

"Thank you Mister Murray, but honestly I'm the lucky one. She's great to be around," Mabel responds and and he nods appreciatively.

He gives her a brief smile, before walking away, but stops halfway and walks back to her.

"Leighton is her own person, and she can do what she wants, but I can't leave without saying that you two seem to be really good together, and I'm definitely glad that my daughter is in such a healthy relationship," he says.

Mabels face turns completely red at that, eying him stunned.

"Don't worry, you don't have to tell me anything. I understand that Leighton wants to share it with us when she's ready, but I just want you to know that I support you and your relationship," he says and winks.

Mabels tries to answer, but he quickly pats her shoulder and walks back to the car.

Everyone waves goodbye to her, and Mabel watches them go with a pounding heart.

She takes a few moments to gather herself and notices her phone lighting up. She sighs as she accepts the face time and immediately flinches when she hears Zia's loud voice on the other end.

"Are you kidding me Mae. You wrote me a whole paragraph and won't even pick up when I'm trying to call you about it? What the hell is going on.
Did you get hit by a bus or something? God Mae, I know you're head is spinning with fear of getting hurt again, but at least let me help you.
Please don't shut me out," Zia says, looking more worried than angry.

"Wow Zi, that was a lot. First of all I didn't mean to ignore you. I was at breakfast with Leighton's parents, so I couldn't talk and-"

"Wait, you ate an entire meal with your crush's parents? Mabel are you trying to make this harder on yourself?
I mean, if they were horrible, at least you probably wouldn't dream about what it'd be like to have them as your in-laws but-"
