Mabel is pacing anxiously back and forth in the room until Leighton's doctor comes in and assures them that she "only" has a slight concussion.
Still being worried, she doesn't leave Leighton's side and dozes off restlessly in a chair until the first rays of early morning sunlight fill the hospital room.
Leighton shifts in her bed groaning a few times before she opens her eyes to the bare, white room around her.
She looks around meeting Mabel's soft smile until somebody clears their throat and her gaze shifts to Jack, a friend of her dad's, standing in the doorway.
He notices her confusion and takes a seat next to her, placing a bouquet of pink roses on the table beside them.
"Hi Leighton. Your parents weren't able to come, and your dad knew I was in town so he asked me to check on you," he explains offering a smile.
Leighton nods, and part of her is glad that her family isn't making a big deal out of it. Yes, she's in pain, but it's nothing she can't handle herself.
She sits up in her bed as she listens to Mabel explain what happened. A scene plays out in her head, but it seems more like a dream than reality, and Mabel's vague description doesn't help. She seems a little nervous as she explains everything, and Leighton reminds herself to ask her about it when they are alone.
Jack tells Mabel to go back to campus after thanking her for her help and promises that he'll make sure Leighton is okay. She gazes at Leighton her face filled with worry and Leighton really doesn't want her to go, but Jack gives her a persistent look, so she promises her that she'll be fine.
Mabel hesitantly leaves the room and makes her way back to her dorm.
The other girls greet her as she returns, and Bela looks her up and down a few times."Damn, you look rough, Mabel," she comments and Kimberly nods behind her.
"Yeah, are you sure you want to go to class like that?" she asks worriedly.
Mabel nods and Kimberly pulls her onto the couch before running to her room.
She comes back with a glass filled with an orange-colored liquid, and Mabel grimaces.
"This will give you energy. Come on, drink it," Kimberly orders and presses the glass expectantly into Mabel's hand.
Whitney gives her a pitying look, but Mabel is too exhausted to fight Kimberly, so she downs the mysterious drink. Surprisingly, it doesn't taste awful, but she's still glad she doesn't have to drink it again any time soon.

They all meet for lunch before Whitney and Kimberly leave to visit Leighton in the hospital. Mabel would have liked to come with them, but her coach didn't permit her to skip practice, reminding her of their game this week.
Mabel knows what's at stake, but for her, winning a game seems insignificant compared to Leighton's well being, especially right now. She tries her best during practice, but she knows she's distracted and her coach scolds her for not bringing her A game.
She makes her stay much longer than usual to prove that she's ready to play, and her body practically collapses when she finally gets back to her room. After a quick shower, she drops into her bed and curls up in her blanket, ignoring the fact that it's still early.
With her head buried in a pillow, she fumbles for her phone to switch it off, but the sound of a new message stops her.
She props herself up on her arm as she opens her messages and her exhausted expression is immediately replaced by a smile.
