It was family dinner at the Hart house. Violet was sitting next to her brother, Matt, while her parents sat across from them.

"Violet, I'm gonna need you to work at the town fair this weekend." Camila told Violet.

Camila just so happened to work at town hall and she planned the town fair every year. Violet hated it because she always had to work there while all her friends got to go around and have fun.

"Seriously?" Violet asked. "Can't you have Matt do it this year?"

"You're grounded, remember?" Camila reminded her.

"I wanna hang out with Anthony, Liam, and Abby." Violet begged.

"You should have thought about that before you missed curfew last night." Camila said.

"Mom!"

"Violet, listen to your mother." Adam interfered.

Violet let out a groan as she crossed her arms. "Fine. I'll work at the stupid fair."

When dinner was over, Violet went into the kitchen. Her parents made her a list of chores to do while she was grounded so she decided to get to work on them. Her first chore was taking out the trash.

Violet went over to the garbage and pulled out the bag. She tied it before walking outside to throw it out. Violet looked across the street and saw Sadie sitting down in the grass, drawing in a notebook. Sadie looked at Violet for a few seconds before waving at her. Violet quickly threw out the trash before walking across the street.

With Violets dad being a lawyer and her mom working at town hall, she lived in a pretty big house. Sadie also lived in a big house since her dad was a superhero and her mom was a successful actress on broadway.

"Hey." Violet greeted as she put her hands in the pockets of her sweatshirt and stood in front of Sadie.

"Hey." Sadie said.

"Can I sit?" Violet asked.

"Sure." Sadie nodded.

Sadie closed up her notebook as Violet sat down next to her. They sat in silence for a few seconds before Violet spoke up.

"I wanted to say thank you for saving me at lunch the other day." Violet said. "Most people would have let me humiliate myself by falling."

"Oh." Sadie replied. "It's no problem really."

"How did you know I was gonna fall?" Violet asked.

Sadie froze, looking at Violet as she thought of an excuse. "I don't know. I just sort of... knew, I guess."

"Well, it was very impressive." Violet chuckled.

"Thanks." Sadie smiled. "Are you going to the fair this weekend?"

"Sadly. My mom is making me work it." Violet told her. "Are you going?"

"Yup. What stand are you working? Maybe I'll come visit you and keep you company." Sadie hinted. "That is if your other friends aren't gonna keep you company. You guys kind of scare me."

"I'm working the lemonade stand and you don't need to be scared of us." Violet laughed. "As long as you don't mess with us we don't mess with you."

"Well, sometimes you guys mess with people who haven't messed with you." Sadie said.

Violet shrugged. "That's only sometimes."

Sadie smiled. "So, I'll come see you at the lemonade stand."

"I'll be there." Violet said.

The door behind the two girls opened and they both turned around to see MJ, Sadie's mom, standing on the porch. She had an apron on and smiled at the two girls.

"Sadie, dinners ready." MJ said.

"Okay, I'll be there in a second." Sadie replied.

"Hey, Violet." MJ waved at Violet.

"Hi, Mrs Parker." Violet smiled.

"Will you be joining us for dinner?" MJ asked.

"No thanks. I already ate dinner." Violet told her.

"Okay." MJ said before going back in the house.

Sadie let out a small sigh as she picked up her notebook and stood up. Violet stood up and faced Sadie, she had to look up because Sadie was at least two inches taller.

"I'll see you at school tomorrow?" Sadie asked and Violet nodded. "Okay. Bye, Violet."

"Bye." Violet waved as she watched Sadie walk into her house.

Sadie shut the front door and took off her shoes, leaving them by the front door, before going to the dinner table. She sat down at the head of the table while MJ sat on the left of her and Peter sat on the right.

"I didn't know you and Violet were friends." MJ said as she watched Sadie put some mashed potatoes on her plate.

"We're not." Sadie told her. "At least I don't think we are."

"Sure looked liked you were." MJ replied.

"She just came over to thank me because the other day she slipped on chocolate milk and I caught her before she fell." Sadie informed her parents.

"Maybe you should be friends her. You could use some more friends." Peter told Sadie causing her to look at him.

"Peter." MJ warned.

"What? I'm just saying. The only person she hangs out with is Millie." Peter said. "Plus, Sadie has had a crush on Violet ever since the Harts moved in."

"Middle school." Sadie corrected. "I've had a crush on her since middle school."

"You weren't any different in high school, Peter." MJ defended her daughter.

"I would love to be Violet's friend, but she rarely talks to me." Sadie told them. "Now can we please just eat and stop talking about this?"

"Sure."

"Okay."
