Chapter 2: The Family

Few days after the bonfire, life had returned to normal in the Stormheart pack. Pack members settled into their routines, unaware of the underlying tension among its leaders. Taehyung found himself once again in a silent war with his dad, and Jimin, as usual, was stuck between both, trying to navigate through pack duties along with their regular jobs.

Taehyung and Jimin were discussing a potential rogue wolf sighting along their borders near the lake beside their home when they heard two running footsteps approaching.

"Uncle Tae! Uncle Chim!" Two giggly voices came running toward them.

Taehyung's eyes widened at the sight of the 5-year-olds, Seoah and Seoyun. "My babies, what are you doing here?" he asked, surprised by their unexpected presence. Quickly getting up, he lifted Seoah into his arms and gave her a peck on the cheek. "Where is your appa and daddy?" he asked, looking around.

Jimin got up and pinched Seoyun's cheeks, causing her to blush. She immediately hugged Jimin's leg, making him laugh at her adorable reaction.

"Seoah.. Yunnie..." a worried voice approached as Taehyung and Jimin doted on the kids. "Babies, where did you go? You know I can't run... Oh, here they are! I was scared for a moment. Dad was talking about those rogue wolves, and then I turned and couldn't find them..." A visibly pregnant omega, who was gently cradling his large belly came by, panting from exertion. A look of relief washed over his face as he saw the kids with Taehyung.

"Jin hyung... there you are... when did you come?" Taehyung asked. "Oh my god!! You're already so big... it's only been 5 months, right?" he exclaimed, eyes widening at Jin's protruding belly.

Seokjin sighed and just shrugged in response.

"You know there are 3 pups this time... he is showing fast." They were joined by Hoseok, Seokjin's husband, carrying another pup in his arms, who was just about an year old.

Jimin rushed over and immediately took the smaller pup from Hoseok, petting him. "My baby... Kai," he squished him and kissed his head. "My sweet little dumpling... you are my favorite, you know that, right?" he whispered affectionately.

"Where is Soo Ah?" Taehyung inquired about their second-born as he placed Seoah on the ground, noticing her absence.

Hoseok smiled, "With her grandpa. You know how she is," he explained. Their 3-year-old had a strong attachment to her grandfather and often chose to stay by his side whenever they visited.

Taehyung nodded in response. He heard little Kai giggling in Jimin's arms and quickly approached them. "Aww!! Jimin, give him to me. I haven't seen him in a while. Oh, my cutie pie, you're getting bigger. Why? Just stay small, please!" He said, taking him in his arms, rocking him back and forth, and gently pecking his hair.

Hoseok shook his head, laughing. "At least greet me properly before swooning over the babies, Tae! Where's my hug?"

"He didn't even greet me... ahh!!! all he cares about are the babies now..." Jin complained with big eyes.

Taehyung broke into a big smile. After their mother's death, Jin was the one who took care of him always, even though they were not far apart in age. They always shared a very special bond even after they got older and Jin was more like a parent to him than a brother. "Hyung, I just got distracted... you know I love you." He pecked Jin's cheek, then leaned in for a hug with Hoseok. Hoseok smiled and quickly embraced him. "Time for you to have your own... hmm... then you can dote over pups all you want." He said, looking at how Taehyung held Kai in his arms.
