"Married? Now? You mean like now now?" Ryan asked, a twinkle in his eye.
"Yes. Like right here, right now?" I replied.
"Can we do that? Is that even legal? What about Vegas next week?" He asked.
"Ryan Michael...do you want to marry me or not?" I teased.
"Baby....I should have married you years ago. Of course I want to marry you. But...."
"No buts. Yes or no? I picked up our license from the court house two days ago. All we need is someone to officiate. Vegas is so cliche for weddings anyway." I then unlocked my phone and did a quick google search. When I found what I was looking for I showed him my phone and he grinned.
"Let's do it then." He replied with a smile.
I looked around the backyard until I found the person I was looking for. "Ross" I hollered, getting his attention. When he walked over to us, I handed him my phone. "Read this and fill out the questionnaire." I practically demanded of him.
Ross raised his eyebrow and gave me a questioning look. "What is this Bree?"
"You are going to get ordained and get us married tonight, and yes, before you ask, it's legal." I replied.
"Seriously? You want me to do this?"
"Of course I do. You are my best friend and one of two people I trust more than anything or anything in this world." I looked at Ryan and back at him."
"It would be my honor then." He smiled at me, then sat down reading the info on my phone.
I then had a thought. Not quite a second thought, but a rather serious thought. Serious to me anyway. "Ry....my dad. I know he's always wanted to walk me down the aisle."
"Let's call him." Ryan suggested, taking out his own phone. He then went to facetime and a few moments later, my dad's smiling face appeared on the screen.
"Congratulations son. That was one hell of a race. I'm proud of you. Hi sweetheart " He said, acknowledging me.
"Thanks Phil. Bree and I have something to tell you." He then handed me the phone.
"Dad, I know it's always been your dream to walk me down the aisle, but Ryan and I want to get married, like now." I gave him a brief explanation of the current events. "Please don't be upset." I added.
He chuckled. "Honey, I'm not upset at all. Sure I would love to be there to give you away, but I understand. I'm all for you grabbing life by the horns and not wasting a single moment. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am for you. For both of you. I will see you in a couple of weeks in Miami and we can celebrate then. Just promise to have someone record everything and send it to me."
"I promise daddy. I'll have someone record it, and I'll have someone FaceTime with you so it can almost be like you're here."
"I would love that. I love you sweetheart and I will see you soon. Ryan, take care of my baby okay."
"I will Phil. I promise."
"I love you too dad. We'll be back on soon." I said, then disconnected the call.
Ryan then made a quick phone call to his parents and let them know what was happening. Luckily, they lived only a few minutes away and said they were on their way over.
By this time, Ross had done everything that was required of him and had received a certificate by email showing he was officially ordained and legally able to officiate a wedding.
Ryan and I decided to keep it a secret from our other guests for the moment and quietly slipped away to our room to retrieve our wedding rings. I decided not to even bother changing my clothes. As impromptu as this was, I had just as soon get married in my jeans and Ryan Blaney/Team Penske hoodie. It was kinda fitting actually.
