A/N: Last chapter!! I LOVE YOU ALL. Also another extremely short one.
It's not uncommon for soldiers to be plagued by nightmares. I remember sleeping in the barracks, and I remember the screams of my fellow comrades as they writhed in their beds.
I had nightmares back then as well, I would wake up drenched in sweat and tears, calling out for my family that I never knew.
But that was when I was younger. After that, I started pushing myself, training harder, and rising the ranks until I was a General, someone to be respected. My nightmares ceased, but since the war, they're back.
Tonight, my nightmare starts off as a dream, a good one. I'm kneeling in front of Queen Ruby in the throne room where she is presenting me with the Dagger of Gems, a ceremonial saber given to those who the Queen trusts with her life.
Just before Ruby gives it to me, she slices off my head. I laugh and my head begins rolling off the side of the castle towards a massive, dark pit. My head falls down the large chasm and with a plunk, I'm transported back to the throne room where my body sits patiently for my head to return.
Once my head is secured, I look up to find the entire room has been redone. Instead of gilded talon steps, there are claw marks slashed across the walls and there is a huge stack of severed bodies at the foot of the throne.
"Is this really how you dream of me, General?" Comes the wicked voice of Ex-Queen Scarlet from where she's lounging on the throne, a sapphire in her claws.
"What do you want Scarlet?" I growl.
"Oh nothing," She grins. "I just wanted to see how you're holding up after your little girlfriend was taken..."
Bella...What happened to her?!
"You're lying," I snarl.
"If you say so..." Scarlett smirks and then vanishes from my dream.
Then my nightmare shifts from the Skywing castle to the Rainforest. Bella is there, smiling up at me. "Storm, you rescued me!" She grins.
"What?" I frown. "From who?"
Belladonna then pales and shakes her head. "No! No, they're coming, run while you still can!"
"What do you mean? Who's coming-" All of a sudden, talons grab onto Bella and drag her from me.
"BELLA!" I scream and grab her arm but it's no use, the dragons taking her hold me back as they punch and claw at Belladonna, snapping her legs and arms like twigs. I continue screaming her name but the dragons don't stop until she's dead, lying at my feet. Staring up at me with lifeless white eyes.
I'm still screaming when I wake.
"Storm! Are you okay!?" Gale asks, charging into my room with worried eyes. I nod, my throat closed with fear. I frown and lift my head to meet Gale's nervous expression.
"Bella..." I whisper, half to myself.
"What?" Gale inquires.
I clear my throat. "Bella. Where is she?" My voice wavers.
Gale pales and hesitates.
"Gale where is she!" I shout, leaping forward and grasping my brother's tensed shoulders.
"She- Belladonna is gone..."
