In the depths of despair, a girl's heart shattered,
Her self-hatred grew, her dreams tattered,
Haunted by the girl her ex chose over her,
She longed to change, to become her, for sure.
She despised the reflection in the mirror's gaze,
Yearning for a different face, a different phase,
Believing that if she transformed her very core,
Her ex would love her again, as he did before.
She saw herself as unworthy, broken and weak,
Aching to be the girl her ex couldn't resist, seek,
Her self-esteem crumbled, her confidence waned,
She believed her worthiness could only be regained.
She painted her face with a mask of someone new,
Hoping her ex would see her, love her too,
She altered her body, chasing an elusive ideal,
But the void within her heart refused to heal.
She lost herself in the pursuit of his affection,
Becoming a stranger in her own reflection,
But her ex remained indifferent, unchanged,
Her efforts to win him back were all in vain.
She realized too late, the mistake she had made,
For her worth should never be defined by his trade,
In her quest to be someone else, she lost her truth,
And the love she sought was nothing but a ruse.
The girl she envied, the one her ex betrayed,
Was not the cause of her pain, she now conveyed,
It was her own self-hatred, her desperate plea,
To be loved, to be accepted, to be set free.
No happy ending awaited this girl's tale,
For she never found the love that would prevail,
But in her journey, she learned a valuable truth,
That self-love and acceptance were the only proof.
So she let go of the girl she wished to be,
Embracing herself, setting her spirit free,
No longer defined by her ex's deceitful game,
She found solace in self-love, her own reclaim.
