5th December 2015
It is currently five a.m... Sarah’s parents did not return the other day as they were helping with the clean-up.
I woke up to Fathima screaming again about Sarah’s parents returning very soon. Naturally, I panicked with her and got ready for the day in a jiffy. And yet again, I got back into the same scenario. Eli, Fathima, Sarah, and I sitting at the dining table, having tea while waiting.
My nervousness grew back too, but this time I noticed everyone besides Eli was nervous as well. In around ten minutes later all the maids can be seen gathering at the inside and outside of the main house entrance.
Eli: (Looking at Fathima and me) Stop what you’re doing and stand up. Our parents are here.
We followed Eli’s command and watched the doors for their entrance. The maids open the door and bow down.
Maids: Good morning, and welcome back Master.
There they were the village leaders who ruled this land.
Their mother was short with a young, slender physique. I could also tell that she was an East Asian as she was wearing a bathing robe also known as a Yukata. Her father looked more tough and older, with a few grey hairs. Despite looking tough, he at once started jabbering like a drunk man.
The two walked over to the dining table and sat down, one on each end. Eli and Sarah followed their parents and Fathima and I followed them. The room was filled with silence for a minute or so. No one looked at the others and just had their hands holding each other. Their father looked over at Fathima and me and broke the silence.
Father: Is this the man I asked you to bring?
Sarah: Yes Father.
Father: And who is the girl next to him?
Sarah: That’s his assistant.
Father: Eli, why don’t you introduce us to each other?
Eli: Yes, umm... Father and Mother, this is Samuel Williams and his head housekeeper, Fathima Anis. Samuel and Fathima, this are my father and mother, Fredrick Smith, and Smith Ayame.
Samuel: It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr and Mrs Smith.
Fredrick: Oh, please. Call us Fredrick and Ayame. We are close friends of your parents.
Samuel: Friends?
Fredrick: Indeed. They would visit us every once a month and we’d wander around town. They were great people.
Samuel: Yeah… They were…
Ayame: Samuel, do you know why you have been invited here?
Samuel: Not really.
Ayame: Tomorrow the town will gather around on the riverside near the Fukaya bridge. Your parents had buried a capsule during their last visit here and the time to open it is arriving.
Fathima: A capsule? Wait… You don’t mean that tin can do you?
Fredrick: How do you know of it?
Fathima: I was the little girl who was with them that day.
Samuel: Do you know the contents of it?
Fathima: No… But as if I would tell you even if I knew.
Fredrick: Well! I’ll head off to bed. I didn’t get a wink of sleep last night. Samuel, I want you to meet me in the kitchen by five.
Samuel: Yes sir.
Ayame: I’ll excuse myself as well. I need to head to the bath. Girls, are you two willing to join me?
