Y/n's POV

I looked around the classroom, watching as my classmates immediately went to their friends for the partner lab we had today in Chemistry.

But this would also make us partners for the rest of the school year. I had yet to be chosen or choose my partner.

I didn't have any friends in this class. At least, some were mere acquaintances. I felt someone tap my shoulder and I felt my heart swell.

"I noticed you didn't have a partner," she smiled. "Would you like to be mine.....my partner, that is?"

"Sure," I nodded.

"Cool," she sat next to me. "I'm Jennifer Huh by the way."

"Y/n Kwon," I shook her hand.

"Korean?" She tilted her head.

"Half Korean and half American," I nodded.

"So can you speak it?" She raised a brow.

"Of course," I replied in Korean.

"Then we have something in common," she smiled wider.

~~TIME SKIP~~

"Wait you're moving?" Jennifer frowned. "But why?"

"I have a career opportunity in Korea," I smiled.

"What am I gonna do without you as my lab partner?" She whined. "No one else knows what to do."

"You'll survive," I teased.

It's been three months since we've been partners. I didn't want her to know the whole truth about why I was going to Korea.

Just in case this opportunity is a dead end.

"When will I see you again?" She sat onto my bed.

"Sooner than you think," I sat next to her.

Jennifer laid her head onto my shoulder, sighing deeply.

"When do you leave?" She whispered.

"Two weeks from now," I looked to her.

"I'll see you off then," the girl played with my bracelets.

"I'd like that," I looked down and smiled.

I genuinely liked her, but I just hope we would be able to keep in touch. Although, the contract I signed would prohibit me from pursuing a relationship with her.

"Keep us updated okay?" My mom whispered.

"If you need anything," my Appa hugged me. "Your grandparents are more than happy to help."

"Ne Appa," I hugged him back.

"You will make it big," my brother smiled. "I know you will."

"I'll try Hyung," I smiled.

I saw his eyes water before he brought me into a tight hug.

"If you don't," he whispered. "I'll be waiting for you at college."

"Thanks Hyung," I hugged him just as tight.

Our parents burrowed their way into the hug, rubbing my back soothingly. They pulled away reluctantly before I was met with those beautiful eyes.
