Angst & Fluff
(A/n: Requested but they asked not to be mentioned.)Saerom's POV
I stared at the empty casket that was laid out for Y/n. My mind still wasn't able to process the fact that he died.
"I miss you," I sniffled.
His Eomma and Appa took nearly two weeks to plan out this funeral for him. That was two weeks that I had to get used to him not calling.
Two weeks.........and it's been nothing but an ongoing nightmare.
"There you are," I heard Mingyu. "We've been looking all over for you."
He handed Ahyoung to me. I held the girl close, stroking her hair.
"It's just hard to believe this is all real," I looked around at the flowers.
"Yeah," Mingyu bowed his head. "I made a promise to Hyung before he left. It was to take care of you like the best brother-in-law. I'm not going to let him down."
"You know you're the best uncle that Ahyoung could have," I nudged him.
"I try to be," he fixed his tie. "But, on another note.....I can't find her other shoe."
"Aish," I looked down. "I knew they were a little too big."
Corporal Finley Wilson's POV
"There's nothing but rubble," I kicked over a brick wall.
"What were you expecting to find Corporal?" Andersen looked to me.
"You already know who I'm looking for," I rubbed my head.
"Y/n is gone," he laid his head onto a crate.
"We've found burned up bodies and dead ones," I threw some debris over my shoulder. "Staff Sergeant Kim was tougher than steel."
"I shouldn't have left him," Andersen whispered. "I should've carried him and gotten him back to his family."
"We can't live on the 'What If's' in life Lieutenant," I hummed.
"You saw that little girl his wife held," he thought back. "And his brother......they looked so lost and distraught."
I entered the old compound, looking through the disintegrated papers and burned computer monitors.
My eyes drifted to a corner, seeing someone hunched over with a gun in their hand. I walked to them.
I kicked the gun away before leaning over.
"Who were you, mate?" I looked at the uniform.
The soldier woke up, grabbing my forearm weakly. I felt chills go through my body.
"L-Lieutenant!" I yelled.
------------
"But how?" Andersen asked Captain Hwang.
"I don't know," he looked to the bed.
"Hey mate," I walked to the soldier. "The nurse here is gonna ask you some questions, alright?"
The soldier nodded.
"What's your name?" The nurse asked.
"There's no way that's-."
"S-Staff Sergeant K-Kim Y-Y/n," he replied.
"What year is it?" The nurse fixed his IV drip.
"2023," he groaned.
