Feeling a faint breeze ruffle her fur, Wavepaw blinks open tired amber eyes.

Glancing around, she finds herself in StarClan's hunting grounds yet again; a sparkling river cuts through a series of sand dunes, flowing fast and free downhill.

Getting her bearings, Wavepaw rises to her paws and squints around in search of whoever had summoned her here.

Perhaps it was her grandfather again, or someone entirely different, but either way she was both excited and worried to hear what they had to tell her.

From afar she registers the form of a brown StarClan cat moving toward her; straightening attentively, the blue-gray apprentice swipes a paw over her ear and gives her pelt a slight shake.

The StarClan cat comes near enough that Wavepaw can see his facial features and pauses, tipping his head a little.

"Hey there," he mutters; Wavepaw brightens.

"Hello!"

"You're the medicine apprentice, right? Wanna make sure I didn't...get the wrong one or anything." The StarClan warrior twitches his tail.

"Uh...yes, that's me," Wavepaw murmurs, unsure of how to feel about this cat's professionalism.

"Ah, good. Great. Anyways, I'm Reedstalk, RiverClan's old medicine cat."

Wavepaw's eyes widen.

"Ooh! Did you mentor Ivyhawk?"

"Yep," chuckles Reedstalk, eyes twinkling with fondness.

"How is he?"

Wavepaw frowns, brow furrowing in concern.

"Kinda....troubled. Pretty good other than that though, I guess."

Reedstalk tips his head.

"Well, tell 'im I said hi, won't you?"

Wavepaw nods, smiling a little.

"I can do that."

"Great," the brown tom replies.

"Anyways, I was s'posed to tell you something about that truth-seein' power you've got, kid."

"Really? What is it?"

Reedstalk grows a bit more serious, and Wavepaw feels him tense.

"The truth ain't always pretty. I need you to remember that," he murmurs.

"...'Specially in a world like ours...who knows what, how they found out...difference between life and death sometimes."

Reminded momentarily of Hailwatcher, Wavepaw frowns.

"...Yeah. I know."

Reedstalk softens a little.

"Glad that you know. I just need you t' be careful, you hear?"

Wavepaw nods.

"I will," she replies, not being entirely truthful.

Though keeping her pelt intact was in her best interests, espeically when it came to Slightstar and ShadowClan, she'd been developing quite the inquisitive streak lately to develop her tell-spotting.

She could now determine with relative accuracy the nervous twitch of most cats she interacted with often; with Snowflash it was her eye twitch, the paw for Ivyhawk, a thump with the hind paw on the ground for Fallowtail, and the whisker quiver for Shellstar.

The only outlier was Falconpaw, who'd become noticeably numb and prone to snarling at concerned Clanmates.

He still didn't want to swim, which Wavepaw wagered that all had something to do with, but she couldn't make any statements as of right now.
