I was sitting with my parents in the living room. I was reading one of my old novels, my dad was watching whatever football game was on and my mother was reading a new book she got the other day. We sat in silence, the only sounds to be heard was the turning of pages and the football game until a phone started to ring. I got up from my spot on the chair, I put my book down and walked to the coffee table in the middle of the room. I looked at our phones and saw that it was mine that was ringing. I grabbed my phone and answered the call as I sat back down on the chair.

"Hello?" I asked on the phone.

As soon as I spoke, my mother lowered her book and my dad turned down the volume on the TV.

"Hi soldier. This is Y/N L/N, correct?" A voice on the other end spoke.

"Yes sir. How can I help you?" I asked.

"This is your General. Normally your Colonel would call, but he is busy at the moment. Anyways, we need you to come back to base. We have some information and you need to hear it as soon as possible." The General explained.

"Alright sir. I will get on the next flight back to base as soon as I can." I said before hanging up.

I looked at my parents as I sighed.

"I'm sorry. I have to go back. they have some information for me and I need it as soon as I can." I said, sadness laced in my voice.

"It's alright." My mother said,

"Was it your Colonel that called?" My dad wondered.

"No. It was my General. It's something serious if he's the one that's calling." I explained.

"Alright. when will you be back?" My dad asked.

"I'm going to try for the next 3 months. Is that ok?" I asked, not wanting my parents to get too upset.

"Sounds good. Please be safe." My dad told me as my mother nodded.

"I always am." I responded as I ran up the stairs to my room.

Once in my room, I grabbed my duffle bag from beside my bed and pulled out my uniform pants and a white tank top. I got changed, grabbed my duffle bag and ran down the stairs and I slipped on my boots when I got to the entryway.

"I'll call soon, ok?" I asked my parents.

"Alright. Have a safe flight and be careful." My mother told me.

"I will. I love you guys. Bye." I gave a small hug to both of my parents before I walked out the door and headed to my car.

"We love you too. Bye!" My parents said in sync.

I got in my car and threw my duffle bag onto the passenger's seat. I started up my car and backed out of the driveway, headed down the road. The trip to the airbase was short like normal, only 20 minutes but it still felt like 40. I pulled up to the gate and waited for it to open. Once the gate was open, I drove through and found my parking spot. I parked my car, grabbed my duffle bag and got out of my car, locking it as I headed towards the runway. I walked up to a plane with its door still open and a soldier standing beside the door.

"Room for one more?" I asked the soldier as I walked up to him.

"L/N? aren't you still off for another 2 weeks?" He asked me.

"Got called back early. Important information. That's all I know, Epps." I explained.

"Hop in. we are about to take off." Epps said as he pointed to the door of the plane.

"Thanks." I smiled as I got in the plane.

I found two open seats beside each other. I assumed Epps would be sitting beside me. As if on cue to my thought, the door to the plane closed and Epps sat down beside me. I've known Epps for a little bit now. We met a while ago when my division had to start the alterations. Ever since then, me and Epps have seen each other occasionally around base and we'll have small conversations here and there. I would consider us friends, not close friends, but friends non the less. The flight was about 2 hours long, although it felt like a million years. Once the plane landed, I grabbed my duffle bag. Me and Epps were the first two off the plane. As soon as I was off the plane, I ran to my bunk and threw my duffle bag on my bed. I made my way to the main Hangar where I was to meet my Colonel about the important information. I walked in and headed straight for the very large desk in the middle of the room. I saw my Colonel and walked up to him.

"Colonel, you wanted to see me?" I asked as I stopped next to him.

"Yes, I do. I want to talk to you about something." My Colonel said, turning to me.

"Alright. what is it?" I asked.

"I wanted to talk to you about your rank." The Colonel said.

"Did I do something wrong?" I asked, starting to worry.

"Not at all. Ahh. Epps, there you are." The Colonel said as Epps walked up to us.

"Please give the Major her new uniform." The Colonel told Epps.

Epps then held his hand out as he held the uniform. I looked at the uniform, then at the Colonel in shock.

"Your rank is going up. You're now a Major. Epps will show you to your new division and introduce you to the Colonel you will be working with." The Colonel explained to me.

"Thank you, Sir," I said, then grabbed the uniform from Epps.

"Congratulations." Epps said as we walked away from the Colonel.

"Thanks." I said with a smile.

"You will need your stuff, so we'll stop by your bunk first. you can get changed there into your new uniform, then I will show you to your new division." Epps explained as we walked out of the Hanger.

We walked over to my division's bunk. Epps waited outside as I walked inside to get my stuff and get changed. Some of the soldiers from my division were sitting on their beds relaxing as I walked in.

"L/N? Aren't you supposed to be at home?" One asked.

"Yep, but I got called back early." I said as I walked into the changing room.

I got changed into my new uniform. It fit perfectly. I walked out of the changing room and over to my bed.

"You're a Major now?" One of the soldiers asked as soon as he saw me.

"Yeah, I am. That's why I got called back." I explained.

"Congratulations!" Another soldier said.

"Thank you." I said, putting my old uniform in my duffle bag.

"Are you staying in our division?" A different soldier asked.

"No, I'm not. I'm sorry." I said as I grabbed my duffle bag with all of my stuff in it.

"L/N! We gotta Go!" Epps yelled in.

"I'll see you guys around the base at some point." I waved as I left the bunk.

"Let's go." I said to Epps.

"Well, don't you look nice." Epps said as we started walking.

I scoffed in response as a small smile appeared on my face.

"That uniform looks good on you. It suits you." Epps said.

We walked up to one of the Hangars and Epps opened the door. We walked in and he led me to a room.

"This is yours, Major." Epps opened the door to the room.

"I get my own room?" I asked.

"Yep. Most higher ranks get their own room." Epps explained as I walked in and put my duffle bag down.

"Now, come on. You still have to meet the Colonel you're working with." Epps said as I walked out.

I followed Epps into the main room of the Hangar. As we walked in, I saw large robots standing around the room.
