Benny sighed. "We'd better make camp for the night," he said.

"Sure thing, dude," Nereida replied. "Need a leg up?"

"Yeah, just-- wait a second. What's that noise?"

"What noise?"

"Listen," Benny said. "It's kind of like wwawawawawawawawa."

Nereida cocked her head to the side. "I don't hear anything. D'you think we should be worried about it?"

"I don't know. It could be anything, really." Benny closed his eyes and concentrated on what it could be, but came up with nothing. "Ugh. Everything I know is about stuff we've already come into contact with."

"Let's wait, then," Nereida replied.

Their next few minutes were quiet and tense as the noise slowly became louder and louder. It seemed to hum through Benny's bones. He felt like at any second, he would start moving of someone else's accord.

"I don't think we should wait anymore," he whispered. His voice was vibrating.

"Why not?" Nereida asked. She sounded fine. "What's wrong with your voice?"

"Ugh," Benny groaned and fell to his knees, covering his ears.

"Benny?!"

Roxy blinked and looked around. How long had she been at the controls?Winter and Ananda were sleeping in a little pile on the floor.

She shook Winter gently. "I finished," she whispered. Winter's eyes flicked open, and before she knew it, she was on the ground with a sword plunging towards her gut. She quickly pulled as much luck as she could muster around her and rolled. The sword glanced off the ground and Roxy got up. Ananda had also woken up, and had a scythe in her hand, ready to fight.

"It's me," Roxy said. "Jeez. How many midnight attacks have you even had?"

"Lots," Winter replied. "You didn't?"

"Sometimes I'd wake up, and Orly would be standing in a pile of charred flesh," Roxy replied, trying to shake off the sadness that always accompanied the thought of her old compatriot.

"She died, right?" Winter said. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine, it's not as if you didn't go through the same thing," Roxy croaked. "Anyways. Let me show you to your room."They followed her wordlessly down the corridor until they came to a small door of hammered metal that looked more befitting to a safe door than that of a bedroom. "The doors are randomly generated," Roxy said. "Anyways, have fun getting moved in! I gotta go..." She turned around and walked as quickly as she could to her room.

Lyra listened to the crackle of the fire and the rumble of her stomach as she sat, looking out for monsters. Just beside her, East sighed.

"I can't get to sleep," he admitted.

"Ha. Wish I had that problem. I always feel tired these days."

"I could take your watch for you."

"Nah. That would just make me feel tired later." Lyra yawned. "Though, that does sound good."

"Here." East sat up and put his hands around her waist, pressuring her to lie down.

"Don't touch me," Lyra snapped.

"Sorry," East said, withdrawing his hands. "I just thought... y'know. I could be a gentleman or some such."

"You've been trying to be a gentleman an awful lot more since Andesine left," she observed. "Yeah, well. He got jealous too easily."
