Lyra was getting really angry now.

Let me out, you friggin' cupcake!

She refused to move through the maze of roses any more. It was pointless anyways. Now she stood on top of a couple of benches she'd stacked, shouting at the sky.

I said let me OUT! I'm tired of having nothing to do!

To Lyra's surprise, an eye opened in the blood red sky.

What do you WANT? You're giving me a headache.

Lemme out.

Do you really think that I'll let you out?

Lyra shrugged. The Boss laughed. Hey, cut that out! She yelled, as the ground began to shake.

Oh, dear, you humans are adorable. Like a finger poking through cellophane, the Boss stretched their hand out and plucked Lyra off of the benches. It held her up in front of its eye. Hm. If I leave, will you keep screaming at me?

Yes.

I thought so. Well, since I can't have you giving me a migraine while I obliterate your friends... The sky rushed up at Lyra.

She plunged through it, surprised that she was no longer going through a rose-red sky, but a sea. Her eyes stung with saltwater. Fish, both beautiful and terrible, streamed around her, eating one another in an endless cycle.

It came to Lyra that she needed to breathe. She looked around, but the only light came from the softly glowing fish. She tried to wriggle free of the Boss's hand, but she couldn't seem to worm free of their grip.

Bubbles streamed from her lips as Lyra began to panic.

Hey! I can't breathe! HEY! Let me... go....

Her eyes rolled back up in her head, and she stopped moving. The fish, which had been until present disinterested, suddenly swarmed around her body. A cloud of red would have spread through the water if it were not made invisible by the sea's color.

Benny arrived on the beach just in time to see Winter leap away from the Boss's sword, which cleaved down on the beach, leaving a scar on the island that quickly filled up with water. There Looking down the beach, Benny saw that there were three more exactly like it.

The remaining guides had already gone to work. Benny spotted Andesine on the Boss's leg, punching a small open wound again and again.

"Get out of the way!" Winter yelled, as the sword came down again. Benny's legs moved mechanically to shoot him to the side, but he wouldn't make it--

--or so he thought, until Ananda yanked him to the side.

"Be careful," She said. "We are trying to have as few casualties as possible."

And she was off again, as the sword came down. Benny rolled out of the way and noticed the green orb floating in the air above the Boss.

"What's that?" He asked Winter.

Winter summoned a pike and threw it at the Boss, who deflected it easily. "Lyra. We can't get up there, though..."

"Leave that to me," Roxy hissed.

Benny glanced over at her. She was glaring up at the Boss.

"But, Rox. Your, uh, problem?"

"I know," she replied. "But we're going to die if I don't. I'll figure something out."
