We descended the stairs to the common room, a mixture of excitement and nervousness filling my senses. The moment I set foot in the common room, my eyes found his, already staring at me. He looked breathtaking; his expensive black suit, tailored specifically to hug him in the right places, his white silk shirt, his green eyes.. I was snapped from my trance by Blaise's voice.
"Ladies you look stunning, specifically you katie." He said politely to which katie blushed and smiled. He extended his hand for her and she took it, escorting her to the hall.
"Hey gorgeous" The adam guy approached us, looking elle up and down, admiring her appearance.
"Hey" she said and she wrapped her arm around his elbow as they left, Draco's eyes never leaving her ever since she entered the room. When they disappeared behind the door, Malfoy lept to his feet and hurried outside as well. It was only me and theo after that.
"Well it's a good thing you're going with me, or else you would've wasted this beautiful dress on some loser ravenclaw" He spoke.
"My, thank you, you look handsome too Nott" I said in mockery.
"Uh uh" he held his finger to my lips to silence me, my heart beating faster at the contact.
"It's Theo" he whispered, his warm finger still on my lips. I didn't know what to say or do, just staring at him like a deer caught in headlights.
"What is it?" He urged, pointer finger never leaving.
"Theo" I said faintly to which he smiled softly.
"Good" he said removing his finger. I found myself wishing it never left, already missing the warm soft sensation on my lips.
"Shall we?" He offered me his hand which I hesitantly took. It was the first time I held his hand. He didn't seem to let go of my hand so I can hold him by his arm, his grip pulling me outside towards the hall. I didn't mind though.

We reached the great hall, and for a second I didn't recognise the place. The darkened Hall glimmers with icicles and mistletoe. The house tables have vanished, replaced by dozens of smaller ones, each glowing with a lantern light around the central dance floor. There were multiple Christmas trees covered with a thick layer of snow and shiny ornaments. Snow flakes were occasionally falling from the ceiling, but they weren't cold at all. It was a scene from a fairytale.
As the champions enter, applause rises. Fleur leads the way, on the arms of a stunned looking ravenclaw boy, while Harry and Parvati enter last. I was surprised Harry didn't go with Cho, until I saw her with cedric. Ron was near where we stood, and he looked stunned, staring open-mouthed at Hermione as she passes with Krum. Not going to lie, I was surprised to see them too. As the Champions reach the dance floor, the Hall falls to a hush. Theo puts his hand on my waist, takes my hand when a waltz begins. We take a step, then another. The music swells, and theo lifts me up, swirling us both then putting me down gracefully. Dumbledore leads Professor McGonagall from the tall table and, with a short bow, sweeps her onto the floor, where they dance formally, beautifully. I was honestly impressed.

Quickly, the remainder of the staff pair off and join them. Even Madame Maxime yields to Hagrid and his horrible suit. Only moody remains on the sidelines, eye whirling madly in time to the waltz. I see Katie and Blaise dancing to the side, Theo following my eyes.
"They're adorable I just can't." I say. They were smiling widely, and they looked so good together.
"That they are. Blaise hit a jackpot honestly." Theo agrees.
"And they are insufferable" I add, switching my gaze to where Elle was dancing with her date, near Draco and Astoria. Just then, Draco switches partners swiftly, handing Astoria to Adam and wrapping his hand around Elle. They start talking, clearly annoyed and arguing, literally glaring at eachother.
"I bet you 10 galleons they'll kiss tonight" Theo says.
"It's the tension , as you say. It's bound to explode eventually." I say.
He then lifts me in the air again.
"Why dont we forget about everyone tonight, it's just us now, let's enjoy our time. Katie and Blaise are clearly thriving right now, Elle and Draco will keep fighting until they figure things out. Stop worrying about everyone and enjoy the night"
"It's a burden being the mom of the group" I say.
"I thought Katie was the mom of the group"
"It depends actually, each one of us is the mom of the group at one point, it depends on the situation, and since my love life is currently unoccupied, it's my duty to care for theirs."
"Unoccupied huh? Why so" he smirked. Because you are an idiot, and I'm an even bigger idiot for falling for your smug ass.
"No one is worth my time"
"Oh I'm sure you'll find someone who's worth it"
"What if I found someone?" Tonight I was living by 'fuck it why not'.
"Then good for you" he said casually. I wanted to kill him.
"What about you?" I asked instead.
"Good things take time" he simply answered, just as the dance ended.

We went to the tables to grab a drink. The students started dancing around wildly, as the music took a dramatic change from classic waltz to punk rock. Blaise and Katie were dancing still, Elle was back at it dancing with Adams, Draco glaring from Astorias side. I looked back to Theo, I wanted to enjoy this night, think about us only. I placed my cup on the table, grabbing Theo's hand.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"Enjoying my night" I smirked as I pulled him to the dance floor.

Hours later, the dance floor was hopping with bodies dancing on the Weird Sisters. I was panting, but giggling none the less. Who knew the great Nott was such a good dancer. My dress was flying as I jumped around, Theo jumping and nodding with me.
"Wanna take a breath of air?" Theo shouted over the music so I can hear him.
"Yes!" I shouted back, nodding.
We walked out, passing by a fighting Ron and Hermione, though I didn't care tonight, I can ask her about it tomorrow. Tonight, it was just me and Theo. Just us. We passed many students making out in the corners of corridors, Professor Snape catching a hufflepuff and ravenclaw making out in a carriage. We kept going to the clocktower coutyard, far away from the hall that it was empty. We sat down on a bench in the cold breeze. It was refreshing after spending hours dancing and jumping around. There, just the two of us, our story began.
