Angel*

My hand instinctively drew up to cover my mouth, shock etched onto my face. I wasn't sure how to handle the sight of him lying unconscious in the hospital bed. The small scar he had was now covered by bandages, drawing from his forehead down his cheek.

Hawks rested, asleep in a chair in the corner of the room. My anger shifted all of the blame for Enji's injury onto him. Water lifted from the cup on the table, quickly freezing and flying at the bird boy. A small squeeze to my hand brought my attention away from anger long enough to thaw the water and drop it.

Hawks jumped from his now very wet chair, eyes narrowing on Shoto and I. Once he woke enough to take in who we were, he settled, although he stayed in his defensive stance.

"You did this." I bit out at him, eyeing my unconscious love. "You egged him on. You made him go. He could have died. The league wants him dead. You know this." My anger was uncontrollable.

"I had no idea that it would play out like that, Hydraulic. I swear." He held his hands up. He began to step forward and I instantly stepped closer to Enji. I rested a hand on his chest, wanting nothing more than to see his beautiful blue eyes.

"Maybe you should leave, sir." Shoto quietly spoke up, his eyes not leaving his father and I. "I think she would like some alone time with her fiancé."

He wasn't wrong, but he didn't need to leave. Only the bird boy. Only the one responsible for this. My hand was shaky on his chest, feeling his body shudder as he fought to draw in a breath. No one could prepare me for the condition he was in.

A cry fought it's way up my throat as I slumped into the chair beside his bed, pulling it as close as possible so that I could feel his warmth. I needed to touch him, to reassure myself that he was alive like I needed my next breath. I ignored everyone else as I focused on the man I love. One of my hands rested on his chest while the other rubbed circles over my growing bump.

Within a few hours, I contained my worry and the adrenaline dulled enough that I fell asleep. Dreamless and content to be touching him.

*Hours Later*

My body shook as I heard my name called. There were so many sensations but my body was warm. I couldn't open my eyes, it was as if I was stuck in a dream.

"Angel, you need to wake up. Please let go." Toshi's voice called for me. I felt someone trying to pry my hand from Enji. My fingers instinctively gripped him tighter. No one will take him from me. The heat in my body increased.

"Angel, this isn't safe for the baby. Please wake up." Enji's voice calls, jolting me awake, my body slowly cooling as I see a glow fading from my veins through my eyelids. My eyes slowly flutter open, Enji and Toshinori coming into focus.

I dare to glance over Enji, inspecting him closely. He stretches, pulling all of the bandages from his face. Aside from the scar, which has grown both longer and deeper in color, he is healed. It would look like the fight never happened, if I didn't have the memory of him laying here with bloody bandages just hours ago.

"You're okay? Did Recovery Girl come by while I was asleep?" I mumbled, suddenly remembering how hot I feel, "Why don't they have the air conditioning on in here?"

"Recovery Girl couldn't have accomplished that much in one go, Angel." Toshi was still wide eyed, caution visible on his face. "You did this."

Surely he didn't mean me. I haven't been able to call on the regenerative side of my quirk since my glowing incident after Kamino Ward. I had tried, been coached by a variety of healers. Nothing seemed to work. The quirk specialist I've been seeing speculated that it had retreated to focus on the baby again.
