Sam picked me up late that night from work. It was almost midnight by the time I got off, thankfully Sam stayed up for me.

"Thanks Sam.." I mumbled.

"It's fine, I offered." He yawned.

"Do you want me to drive? You seem really tired.."

"It's the middle of the night, what do you expect?"

"Pull over, I'll drive."

Sam sighed and pulled over. We switched seats before I started to drive to his house.

He fell asleep on the way there which made me alone with my thoughts.

I gripped the steering wheel tightly as I tried to steady my breathing. My mind raced back and forth between my family and Colby.

Why did they marry me off, when I gave up so much for them? Why would Colby pay to marry me just to cheat? Did he really forget that night? Is he just pretending to? Did he really mean what he said that night?

I pulled into the driveway, before waking up Sam. It took him a minute to process where we were.

We went inside together, being greeted by Kat who had gotten up for a snack.

"Either of you hungry?" She smiled at the two of us.

"Not really just tired." Sam pulled her in for a hug as I smiled sadly.

"Is it alright if I walk home? I need something from my room.." I trailed off.

"What is it? I don't really want you there." Sam looked up sternly.

"Uh- medicine?" I swallowed dryly. "I rather just go and get it cause it's hidden.."

"Why is your medicine hidden?" Sam asked as Kat glared at me.

"Don't tell me that you never-" Kat started but was cut off by me.

"I just didn't want Colby seeing.. He doesn't need to know." I plastered a fake smile.

"You don't want your own husband knowing that you need medicine?" Kat questioned as I started to internally panic.

My breathing picked up slightly as I tried to form words, "I-i just didn't want him to be worried."

Kat sighed as I slowly started to back up. I wanted to get the fuck out of here.

"Millie wait..!" Kat tried to reach for me before I walked out the door.

I started to jog away from the house. I didn't know why but I wanted to escape them at the moment.

I ran down the block before I slowed to a stop. I took a deep breath before pulling out a cigarette.

I breathed in the toxic smoke as I walked around, hoping I was going the right way.

After an hour or so I finally made it. Sam's car was parked out front with both of them standing outside.

"What the hell, Millie?" Kat walked closer to me.

"I'm sorry, I just... I just freaked out."I looked away from her.

She took a deep breath before pulling me into a hug, "No, I'm sorry.. Now go get your stuff." She pulled away, letting me head inside.

I walked up to the door and unlocked it, walking in quietly. There wasn't any movement in the house, completely silent. I assumed Colby was asleep.

I creeped through the house, up to my room. The door was wide open, which I thought was strange since I was almost positive I closed it.

When I peaked inside, Colby was sitting on the edge of my bed with a mostly empty bottle of whiskey in his hand.

"C-colby?" I whispered, and his head instantly shot up to meet my gaze.

Colby quickly got up and gripped my arm. I frowned as he looked at me. I flinched slightly at the sudden movement.

Colby leaned closer until our lips touched. My eyes widened as I tried to pull away.

"Stop trying to pull away. This is what you wanted, isn't it? Me to love you?" Colby grinned.

"You're drunk." I twisted out of his arms. "You don't love me.."

"I want to.." He mumbled. "You are special."

"You keep saying that, but you don't mean it. You are drunk."

Colby frowned before throwing the bottle at the wall. "Damn it, Millie! Why won't you just listen to me!?"

"Why won't you stop treating me like shit!?" I snapped, vision blurring.

Colby looked stunned as he took a step back. "Millie I-"

"Save it." I grabbed my suitcase and my medicine before walking out of my room.

"Millie wait!" Colby chased after me.

He grabbed onto my wrist as I didn't answer. I winced at the bruising grip he had on me.

"Damn it, Colby! Let go!" I cried.

Colby loosened his grip but didn't let go. Instead he pulled me closer, grabbing my jaw tightly.

"Colby please." I wiggled but couldn't escape.

Colby kissed me roughly. I squirmed but couldn't get away. I bit his lip and pulled, tearing his lip.

"Fuck!" He winced letting me go. "You fucking bitch!"

I ran out of the house as he screamed the last sentence. He stopped in the doorway as he saw Sam. He frowned as walked back inside, slamming the door.

"What the hell happened?" Sam asked.

I didn't answer, just cried as I put my stuff in the trunk. Kat gave me a hug and rubbed my back.

"I'm sorry.." Kat mumbled as she helped me into the back seat.

I shook my head and got in, resting my head against the door.
