Amber Monroe

"Where are we?" I asked when Lando parked the car in the middle of nowhere. Literally. All I could see around was grass and rocks.
"You'll see soon." he whispered and took my hand, bringing me to a cement path and I could see lights at the end of it.

As we walked Lando drew circle motions onto my palm, but then moving his arm from my hand to my waist and pulled me in a bit, making me giggle and stumble a bit.

"You like it?" Lando nudged me, but I couldn't stop staring at the beautiful view of Monaco. All of the buildings were lightened and I could barely see some yachts.
"Mon amour, I love it!" I turn to him and give him a big kiss on the lips.

There was also a wooden bench where we sat down and I put my head on my boyfriend's shoulder.
I looked down to his hands and for the first time in my life I didn't see the silver ring around his index finger.
He moved a little, making me move my head off him, but I guess he intended to do that, as he turned to me straight after.

"You know the ring I always wore?" he started and I nod, not knowing where this is going.
"It belonged to my mum. And my grandmother before that. It was their promise ring. Before my mother passed, she gave me the ring and told me I'd feel who's going to be the right person to give it to," he took a short break.

"She was right, you know. I knew from the first day I met you, I'll give it to you. I just didn't know when," he brought out a little white box and opened it, showing the ring hanging around a plain silver necklace. "Would you like to be my promise girl and marry me later on in this life?" he was waiting for my answer, so he could take out the necklace.

"Is that even a question? Of course!" I shoot out the words, tears of joy filling up my eyes when he unclasped the hook and put it around my neck.
"I love you, Amber Monroe."
"And I love you, Lando Norris."

Lando took off this morning, leaving me alone in Monaco with the most boring job ever; don't get me wrong, I loved my job, but sometimes it was just so annoying. I wish I could travel with Lando all the time, without having to sign a thousand contracts about not telling the McLaren team anything I knew.
No, next time I'll come to Zak and tell him Max is taking a shit two times a day and that's why the car is so quick, maybe Lando should try this technique too!

Should I ask Lando if they had any place for a new member to the team? But maybe we would see each other too much then and get annoyed by each other.
I'll just stay where I am right now.

If i'm not there, that doesn't mean I can't cheer for him.

He left me keys of his apartment, so I could watch the race on the TV, instead of my computer. Can you believe I'm mot going to see him for five more days?!

He texted me when landed at his destination and called me when arrived at the hotel.
It was apparently super cozy, but he wished I'd be there right now to cuddle with him.
Soon he ended the call, because he had to get ready for some sponsor event he had to attend.

Before posting it on his Instagram story, he sent the photo to me, looking extra hot in the black button up and black dress pants, along with the silver necklace I bought for him two weeks ago.

I put the keys of my apartment down, walking to the living room and slumping down onto the sofa, closing my eyes. I didn't feel hungry, I was used to eating with Lando and as he wasn't here, it was weird, there wasn't a guy nudging my side every twenty minutes to cook him something.

I saw how he started eating more and better, which wasn't a bad thing, because I believe he wasn't healthy with food before. He never cooked, always just warmed up prepped meals and even that it was usually just once or twice a day which isn't healthy for a human being, especially a very sporty one.

I was happy he was getting better.

Taking my phone out my pocket I saw a few messages from Lando and I texted him back, then stood up and made my way to the bathroom to take a shower.
Believe it or not the AC in our office broke down and it was hot as fuck in there, which resulted to me getting home sticky and sweaty.

When done with my shower I dressed up in pyjama and got under the covers of my bed, feeling warm and cosy, while setting up my computer to watch some Netflix.
I was thinking of rewatching Outer Banks, but something in me told me to watch Drive To Survive. Maybe it was the Lando effect.

After the first season I felt my stomach hurting probably, because I didn't eat all day, so I went to the kitchen and made myself some cup noodles I kept in the cupboard for cases like this.

That's when I got a phone call from Lando.
