A week later, Chan came into Minhos room and smiled at him softly.
"How are you holding up?" He asked, gazing at his bruised cheek as he sat down on the edge of the bed. Minho scooted his legs to the side so Chan could have more room.
Jisung had distanced himself again after what had happened. After Minho told him to know his place, he hadn't spoken to him. He missed that little bit of warmth that he'd had the night they slept in the same bed.
"I'm okay," Minho said and looked up at Chan.
"I didn't ask if you were okay I asked how you were holding up," he said and Minhos eyes moved away.
"I'm conflicted.." Minho said softly and felt his emotions getting in the way of this mission yet again.
"Conflicted on what exactly?" Chan asked Minho.
What could Minho say..? There was no way he could tell Chan that he didn't know what he wanted anymore when he thought about what side he was supposed to be on. No way he could tell him that he enjoyed being free.. that he enjoyed being out of the army and everything in between that involved that place. That hyunjins story made him realize that not everyone in that facility were bad.. that they might have just been wronged by the reform or betrayed.
That the little bit of care he'd had here had him confused.
"Minho..?" The boy looked up when he heard his name being called and then realized he was staring off into space.
"I don't know," Minho breathed out and looked away again.
"You can trust me," Chan said and gently took Minhos hand in his own.
"No, I can't," Minho said and shook his head, trying to make himself believe that these were bad people so he could accomplish this mission like he'd promised.
But the freedom..
"All of the others do, Minho.. why can't you trust me? What's the reason?"
Minho was quiet for a moment and breathed in like he was going to talk before letting it out and swallowing harshly.
"Because if I told you, I'd be a failure in your eyes too.."
Chans gaze stayed the same, soft and caring like it always was when he looked at him.
"You're not a failure," Chan said, "nobody is a failure, Minho. Regardless of what the world thinks.."
The door opened behind Chan and they both looked over to see seungmin in the doorway.
"Sorry to interrupt, Chan," seungmin said and bowed at the older politely.
" Jeongins back,"
With that Chan wasted no time and stood up, running out the door and screaming down the stairs.
"Yeah if you can't tell, man's in love," seungmin said and pointed behind him as Minho laughed and got up off the bed as he began walking with seungmin down the stairs.
Chaos was in the main room.
Everyone screaming and crying as they huddled around a young looking boy, who hugged Chan tightly and kissed his cheeks so much, that it he had any sort of lip product on his cheeks would be painted in a matter of seconds.
"I'm can't believe you're alive!!" Chan yelled as he picked Jeongin up and spun him around a few times before putting him back down.
"Of course I'm alive! I couldn't leave you guys," Jeongin said as Chan let him go and he went to hug the other boys.
Jeongin made his rounds of hugs before he came to Minho.
"A new face," Jeongin said softly and smiled before hugging Minho tightly, "welcome to our little family,"
Minho hugged Jeongin back just as tightly before pulling away, "Minho," he said softly
"I'm Jeongin.. but I'm sure you already know that from everyone quite literally screaming five seconds ago," Jeongin said with a grin so wide, it made his eyes scrunch into cute little shiny orbs.
"You have to tell us what happened." Felix said and dragged Jeongin over to a dirty couch they had pushed into the middle of the room.
"Oh yes! I have to know every detail," jisung said excitedly as he sat down beside Jeongin but ended up scooting up on the arm of the couch so chan could sit by his boyfriend. Hyunjin sat beside Felix, and seungmin took the other arm.
Minho looked around for a chair or something but there was nothing. Everyone was busy talking so Minho just took it as a sign to go back up to his room. So he turned and began walking, making it to the stairs before his name was called.
"Minho!" Jisung and motioned for him to come sit in front of him as he scooted back on the arm of the couch.
Conversation stopped and all eyes were on Minho whose cheeks turned red at all the attention.
"Come on," Felix said with a grin, "you're family and this is family time,"
That was the second time he'd been called family and he'd done nothing to deserve that title. He had come unwanted by hyunjin.. but then again he'd been kind to him. Jisung hated him.. but then again, there he was offering him a seat right in front of him. He'd had a ptsd attack the night before yet everyone still treated him the same and cared about his wellbeing.
Minho felt his heart clench a bit as they all smiled at him and waited for him to come over before starting the story.
Slowly, Minho sat down in front of Jisung. He stayed close to the edge of the arm until he felt jisungs arm around his waist pulling him back. Minhos cheeks turned impossibly redder at the action especially when jisungs arm stayed around his waist.
He wondered what had caused this sudden change in attitude from the other. If he'd finally gotten over their little tiff or if he'd just decided to forget about it and move on. Maybe Jisung really was a tad bit bipolar, he thought. Either way, he wasn't going to pull away. He didn't know why either. Minho just felt he should stay in jisungs arms. Perhaps he liked it..
After a moment in his thoughts, Minho looked around at all the faces as they laughed at a joke Felix had said and saw their smiles so genuine and free.
Family.. he thought. Oh how he wanted it..
