"Shoot him,"

The commander loomed beside Minho as he shoved a gun in his hand.

His gun. The one he'd taken from his holster when he'd laid down on his bed only thirty minutes before.

Oh how Minho wished he'd gone anywhere but here.

Jisung still sat on his knees before Minho.

And somehow as Minho held the gun to jisungs forehead, time slowed.

Seconds turned to minutes, minutes turned to hours and hours to days. Time was nothing yet it was still being counted in the most agonizing way. Agonizingly slow. Taunting him by every single second that passed by in his mind.

Minho had failed.

Everyone knew it by now. That he'd failed to bring anything substantial home, or at least that's what the commander was telling everyone.

Though he knew what they were planning, he felt like he couldn't say anything and risk the others getting killed. Especially not for a cause that had betrayed him and used him.

The cold metal rested in Minhos hand and didn't give him that rush he used to feel. The rush that he'd slowly began to despise no matter how many times he'd shot at targets. It fell heavy in his grip and he could do nothing but shake as he held it firm to jisungs forehead.

Jisung stayed still and even though he was staring death in the face of  Lee Minho, he wouldn't look away. Simply because he was so sure Minho wouldn't do it. He was too weak, too simple minded for this world and yet here he was. The fear in Minhos eyes and the way he looked down at him with slightly quivering lips disgusted Jisung.

Jisung watched as the commander pulled the gun from his holster again and held it to Minhos head.

"Shoot him or I'll shoot you," he growled and cocked it beside Minhos head to show that he in fact would not hesitate to take his life.

Minho looked at jisungs eyes, the boy he'd fallen for in a way. Whether that be considered love or lust. He wasn't sure anymore. Though something flashed across his eyes that wasn't that insanity and Jisung looked.. offended almost.

Minho looked between the commander and Jisung, so torn between what side he could choose. But once again he was caught between metal and want. Between lead and desire. Between everything he'd ever wanted and everything he'd ever needed.

He needed security but he wanted Jisung. He needed a place to call home but he wanted freedom. He wanted someone to love but needed someone to care. He wanted someone to care but needed someone to care enough to love him. Not use him.

Minho supposed that was the realities of living in flesh. Living in a mind that had the capacity to overthink and the responsibility to serve a purpose.

Once again, he'd hesitated.

"Soldier #297," Commander Seo said right next to minhos ear "you have failed your mission and the reform. You are hereby discharged from your duties as a soldier and will be punished by death for going against orders."

Jisung watched the commander move his pointer finger to the trigger before he pulled his gun. Without thinking he pointed it.

There was simply no turning back now.

One.

Two.

Three shots.

Three shots echoed that day.

Two symbolizing the end of his obsession for Minho.

And one marking the end of the war that never truly started.

Though as Jisung watched Minhos body fall to the floor in front of him, nothing felt the same. Nothing seemed right as he watched the blood spill from his chest. As he watched his eyes frantically look around and his face scrunching painfully as his hand gripped his chest.

A battle between mind and heart.

And the mind had just won.

He dropped his gun. The metal clattering to the ground just beside Minhos body that lay in front of him.

It was a gut wrenching sight. Killing Minho had been the plan after he'd found the files but low that it was a reality he was facing, he didn't know how he felt.

He screamed.

Screamed so loudly that he couldn't even hear anything other than his own voice.

The commanders body on the floor was nothing but a vessel to him. However Minhos.

It marked the end of vengeance. Marked the end of betrayal. Marked the end of an era. The end of his love for the boy.

Jisung watched from a foot away as the life faded from Minhos eyes, as he continued to scream. Watched as the boy whom he'd touched and toyed with died off into a world of unknown.

And nothing else mattered.

Thoughts of regret faded away.

Nothing more than who was next filled his mind.

Nothing more than what to do now.

Jisungs screaming slowly faded to laughter as the voices spoke to him. Insane, psychotic laughter that echoed even louder than the gun shots that had reverberated throughout the room.

You did it...

Thank you for our beautiful sacrifice...

He failed his mission, but you passed yours.
