Riley NilesThe storm that had rolled into New York last night had yet to abate into nothingness, and still plastered everything in beads of mildly acidic liquid, and I still knew that when Monday came it would be time for the case to begin since Adrian had forwarded me four PDF's worth of information, and details regarding the Ambrose Executives, and what evidence I could use against them.
Sitting in my office which out of all my friends, wasn't present in a ridiculously tall building in South or Central Manhattan, Niles & Co worked out of the twentieth floor of an office building in Hell's Kitchen. Ava however had bought the building so it wasn't uncommon for her and I to pass one another while at work the first five floors was a high end mall that held every possible expensive and luxury store one could think of including the Kosmina brand owned by Kate. The ten after that were hotel space which was why there were two entrances to the building, the five after were office space including one just for my law firm, after that it was used by the Windsor Organization.
Flipping to the next page of evidence which I was colour coding while on my coffee break since there was no such thing as stopping here, though levels of productivity did vary because I couldn't stop my staff from actually taking care of themselves.
As I glanced at the lists following mysterious choices and investments that when following trends didn't actually make any sense, and that there was a plentiful amount of evidence to prove that no taxes had ever been paid despite the fact there was proof that there was that money given to them. Owning the business where you could control how you were paid was one thing, but when all the information pointed away from legality my checklist of crimes were easy to rely on and create a solid case against the dozen executives.
My door then opened and my close friend and Partner Liam walked into the room before stopping in front of my desk.
"The CEO for Ambrose Engineering's motorcade has arrived," he says glancing back at the door.
"Okay, I'll come out and greet him," I say standing and rounding the desk before smoothing out my beige suit as I walked out to meet Hunter who stood in the lobby with two of his bodyguards surveying the area. They did made Hunter look short considering both had to have half a foot on him but still he made up for it.
"Hunter," I say reaching out my hand and shaking his own outstretched one.
"Riley, thank you for accepting my request so quickly," Hunter says sliding his free hand into his navy pants pocket before I led him towards my office.
Stepping into the space of my office I gestured for Hunter to sit and he did before I set down a glass and filled it with water since I'd been chain drinking coffee since I got to the office at seven this morning.
"I just came from a meeting with Adrian, he's not working today, for once he's actually taking a rest day, but he told me he gave you all the information his team had gotten, and was leaking to the media," Hunter says pulling the file I'd left open towards him with the personalized emblem for Adrian in the top left corner, and he shook his head.
"All this information, years worth, and it got found in what, a week," he laughed running his hand through his hair which stayed in place, likely from hair product since he was the most vain of the four billionaire heirs in New York.
"I didn't ask how long he's had all this, but it's going to be more then enough, as usual he's made sure we're all covered," I say taking back the folder, and shutting it.
"Adrian has enough skill to do that, makes me wonder what the asshole does when no one is around," Hunter laughed, and I cracked my own smile.
"Adrian and Olivia travel the world, and he does a lot of international work, unlike the rest of us, his company is technically new," I say glancing out of the window and I spotted 35 Hudson Yards where I knew Hunter had been eyeing one of the penthouses.
"Winters Group is also a parent organization to about half a dozen growing subgroups, if anyone thinks he doesn't work in every continent except Antarctica, they don't know our domineering best friend," Hunter says and I exhaled in amusement.
"No one but Olivia, and Nico know him," I say, and Hunter shrugged.
"Well we'll get to see his games in court, we all remember junior prom," he says.
"I guess we will," I say my job and the idea of court making me serious for once.
"I'll have to do my best, and I know it will be important that I do," I admit returning my focus to Hunter as I folded my hands and he nodded before letting out a sigh and speaking again.
"I want you to be the lawyer that represents my case against them, it's only right that I ask you personally to do the case then one of your other lawyers?".
I stared at him for a moment, this case would mean Hunter paid me six thousand an hour, and then a percentage that we would have to discuss for when this case was won because there was no other option but to win, not in this firm, and especially not for this case.
"I accept but if I win this case you'll have to pay out a hundred and ten million to me directly, and then my hourly wage," I say and he nods.
"It's the right thing to do, plus I can't go to Adrian, Wade Law Group charges eight grand per lawyer," Hunter says.
"Adrian's lawyers also close multibillion dollar deals for him constantly, so they also earn that, his two personal lawyers are paid four grand an hour, and then point one percent for the winning case. The Lexington Case where Adrian secured a sixty billion dollar company they got thirty million, because it was out of court. Those two lawyers make a hundred million a year combined easily, though they lose most of it to taxes, the Wade brothers live in the Hamptons about half an hour from him.
"So they make in a year a fifth of what I'll end up paying you for this one case, okay" Hunter says before giving me a smile, "It's still only right that you do this case, it was your case to begin with, and I personally think it would be fitting for your dumbass to end it," Hunter remarked and I flicked my pen at him.
"I agree to be your attorney, Mr. Ambrose, I'll be there on Monday morning to represent you," I say and he nods in thanks.
"I'll be happy to see you there," Hunter says before standing and bidding me goodbye along with that lunch would be on him today, and left my floor while I began to work on creating a winning case for him, while the countdown to when it would all have to be proven begun.
So we're getting closer to a court date, I hope it goes well for them, because I haven't planned what happens yet, comment, vote, and share. AnywaysPeace✌
