Adrian WintersI hadn't ever killed someone, sure there were people who were horrible people, and I had ruined them and their fleeing from justice led them into Sorenko Territory in the East of Europe but I'd never done something like this. I should have been disturbed, yet I knew my statement to Olivia about me having the ability to deal with my actions was clear.
She on the other hand looked mildly disturbed like she was grappling with the idea of being okay with what just happened, and if I had to guess it was also the fact that Demetri was truly gone and wouldn't be able to ever get to her again.
"I'm sorry you had to witness that, I should have gotten Elijah to take you back to the car," I say under her imperturbable gaze.
"I only ever found out that he was apart of a crime ring when the police came to my house in June, then I found out that you were the leader of that ring and that you also brought it down. He's the darkest part of my past and now he's dead, something he'd be if he went back to jail," Olivia rasps.
"I know that he knew too much, that he did more then I knew to so many other people, that that whole group had a disgusting view on women, and though it will never be known that I killed him. I know you shouldn't have witnessed that, and I know that I'm a murderer Olivia," I say, "I'll go to Logan and put an admittance report, if New York wants to take me to court they can, I'll go".
Olivia's expression morphed into one of panic, "would your lawyers even be able to make you a case to prove that the murder was for a good reason?".
"Probably more publicly known people then me have committed many murders and done time," I admit returning my eyes to the road.
"He deserved it, you said he killed twelve people, killed others that aren't known, and then there are all the other things he did to me. I don't think a jury wouldn't view what you did as what many others would have done to a man like that," she says still staring at me with those belle like eyes.
"I'm morally grey, bellissima. But if it makes you happy I won't admit to anything, the crew will be sure to make it look like a suicide then a murder," I say as I headed towards South Manhattan precinct.
"You think Logan will help you cover up this," Olivia says.
"No but Elijah called in, I have to give the statement backing it because I will be a suspect, though I have a feeling there won't be a very deep investigation, just a mystery into why it was there that Demetri Flanne committed suicide," I reply parking beside Logan's truck and killing the engine.
"I should come in too, though I'm certain that considering the past, New York police are aware that Demetri's choice of actions wouldn't be good towards you, or I," she says and I nod knowing that at worst I get charges with homicide, and Olivia as accessory to murder, at best NYPD takes our reports and takes it as Demetri escaped while being transferred which is true, it just happened that I knew of that plan as it happened and Elijah had been quick to find Demetri.
Climbing the steps to the front doors of the precinct I was let in and the receptionist immediately called Logan to the front without us asking, as I met with my cousin fairly often.
Logan was ever so slightly shorter then me and if one hadn't been paying attention he'd have looked like my brother even if he had his dad, Fabian's facial structure.
"Adrian, Olivia" Logan greets and gestures for us to follow him which we do, and it was only once we were in his office that we spoke.
"You all just got a dispatch call about a gunshot, Demetri Flanne appeared to have shot himself," I say with a sigh and Logan's eyes looked between the two of us before his eyebrows raised.
"You shot him," Logan says, though his expression appeared dark.
"I committed murder of the second degree yes, he was Olivia's rapist after all," I admit and Logan nodded.
"He was being transferred to Gen pop, I have friends in the prison system and Demetri was told about that. Considering he escaped the stories and motive line up from what he knew. Explaining how he got the gun is also easy, it matches the one that he stole while escaping," Logan reveals and I knew that by doing so he could lose his job.
"I should go to court," I admit and Olivia's stunned expression returned by Logan shook his head.
"No one would convict you of murder, even if there is historic reasoning, a jury would end up hearing the year of crimes he committed, and that Demetri had a long history before you put him away for violent crimes. We have dealt with murders of rapists before, and the Jury often sides with the victims. You're also publicly liked Adrian, you've funneled billions into this city, the police like you, the governor of the state likes you, your family has been friends with the politicians in this city for half a decade. There's no point to take you to court. Even the investigative team would see the fact that suicide is convincing. I'm also family, and you've helped me out a lot over the years in my career. Remember when I was Captain of the Brooklyn Heights precinct, they got me to move to Manhattan just because I helped take down all of the criminal organization. If I sign off on the investigation of a suicide it's closed. I could get fired for the fact I now know you did it though. But you'd be cleared of it anyways," Logan says.
"Well I don't plan on killing anyone ever again, I'm happier with ruining shitty people, and taking their businesses," I say and Logan laughs shortly.
"Write out the testimony that you heard gunshots, I'll sign it then you can go home. Sometimes moral judgement outdoes the law. This is one of those cases Adrian. There's no one in this force who wouldn't see death as a good reaction to a man like Demetri," Logan says before presenting us both with testimony papers and we began to fill them out and then slid them to Logan who peered at them and signed.
"Have a good day, I'll have official police head to the scene," he adds and Olivia leave the office, heading back through the precinct and out to the car that sat outside of the building.
Climbing back inside the car I started it again, and Olivia buckled her seat beside me. Backing out of the space I then drove off and I felt Olivia's hand grip mine as I navigated us through the city and back to the Hamptons.
"I'm glad you won't have to be investigated, or go to court for murder," she whispers.
"I'd go if it was for your protection Olivia, I'd watch the world burn if it meant your safety," I admitted giving her hand a light squeeze and she looked at me like she'd make sure it didn't happen and I believed her. If I went to jail, she'd bail me out within the day.
It's fucking her and I, till the day we die.
Leaning back into the seat I crossed the Brooklyn Bridge and watched as the sun rose all while nearing our beachside compound.
Another two chapter writing day, I'm pretty proud of myself, not going to lie, comment, vote, and share. AnywaysPeace✌
