Riley Niles

Waking up the next morning to sun streaming through the space in the black out blinds, I glanced over to Ava who lay beside me her chestnut brown hair pooled behind her head as she breathed softly in and out. Her hand resting near mine with her pinky curled around my pointer finger.

While Adrian, Nico, and Hunter were alone, and focusing on either themselves or the things they needed to do. At that same time Ava and I had been getting closer, and talking about what we would expect from being with one another.

It was also the same day that Ava met Olivia that I officially asked the woman that lay sleeping beside me to go on a date with me and I didn't regret it for a single second.

When I'd met her she was a bit of a mystery, she hadn't been much more then one of the most bubbly people that I knew. She smiled more often then she frowned, and most people were fooled by it, and didn't see past it. Others just didn't care enough to look, and the group didn't want to pry since they knew I'd liked her since sophomore year. Her and I relied on one another, and I often talked to Hunter who I had to checkmate for some of his conquests, to not get their hearts broken by Hunter before Mia got him to change. Ava seemed to have heard that I was a kind person and it was known that Adrian was more then capable of dispatching anyone he chose to without a second thought, and Nico simply didn't care what people wanted from him. He also was Kate's pen pal for many years until the younger Winters sibling moved back to New York to attend Thornbrook on the last year of high school, before taking on her role at the brand she'd built for herself since she was fourteen.

Ava sought me out for comfort every spare moment we could have, and it didn't help that many of the issues that she had revolved from how the other girls at Thornbrook even if the Windsor Family in New York was one of the largest real estate moguls in the state.

Even Adrian's ex girlfriend Savannah Lovell, was one of those that made fun of Ava mostly due to Ava being skinnier then the other girls. my copper haired girlfriend was more then enough for me then when we were nothing but friends, and now that we were three years into a relationship.

Reaching over to her I inched her closer to me and wrapped my arms around her middle, and immediately feeling her stir at my touch before a relaxed hum left her lips.

"Good morning Riley," she says kissing me before tucking herself into my chest and blowing out a breath which tickled.

"Good morning Ava," I say and she smiled lightly, before I heard the door at the end of the hallway open and then slippers paired with a near silent padding. It was then that the door got kicked open and Hunter stuck his head into the room with a bag of roses before I realized it was an air cannon loaded with rose petals.

"Hun-," the sound of the cannons thrum filled the room and rose petals scattered everywhere all while Hunter began to laugh while the petals fluttered to the ground like confetti and a low call up the stairs filled the air, all while Hunter laughed and fled.

"You can clean that up," Adrian becons up the stairs all while the faint noise of the coffee machine going off sounded through the house.

How he gets up at seven-thirty blows my mind.

I wasn't up until at least eight but because Hunter bushed through my door like the coolaid man I was now. Peering over at Ava who rubbed her eyes and sat up clutching the blanket to her chest to cover herself I followed her gaze to the layer of petals around the room.

"Hunter!" I call and he appeared in the room in a moment with a shit eating grin on his face.

"You're cleaning this up, once Ava and I are downstairs," I say and his expression dropped.

"You've got to be joking," he grumbled.

"Mia Lindsey Harrington!" this time it was Ava who called and the sound of footsteps followed almost immediately by Hunter looking shook, since we all knew Mia was the one that ran their relationship and what she said went in that penthouse they shared.

The green eyed girl peeked into the room her hair pulled into a messy bun which told me she'd been having coffee downstairs, most likely with Kate and Olivia.

"Yes?" she asks perking up as Ava smiled at her.

"Your beau has caused this mess, would you mind doing us a favour and give him blueballs for making this mess," Ava requests and Hunters horror washed over him like a wave.

"What!" he exclaims and his head immediately shot to look at Mia who looked completely happy with her words, and a slight bit smug.

"I had Nico as a brother, and Adrian as a surrogate brother, I think I can manage without you," Mia says with a bright smile before leaving and I began shaking from laughter at Hunters face.

"What the fuck, really?" he gasps.

"You're going to be doing the mercy jerk for a while now bud," I laugh climbing out of bed not caring that I was bare, before I pushed Hunter out of the room and shut the door behind him stifling his comment.

"Oh really, you got more ac-", the door clicked as it closed.

"I need a shower," I say walking towards the bathroom and Ava climbed from the tangled sheets that had covered her before stepping into the shower and turning the water on.

Stepping into the shower I turned on the water and began to wash off sleep all while I wondered what we'd all inevitably do out on the water. Sometimes it was tubing, or listening to music while having a day for just our group, other times it was so that we could get off the shore.

When Ava and I got out we dried off and I took a few moments to kiss her before I would have to restrain from doing so in front of Hunter who would undoubtably try and tease me to no end.

As she hummed and fisted my hair in her hands I pulled away, though her grip didn't stop, and I was met by a sultry look that if we weren't in the home that Adrian bought I might act on her look, but I held the barest amount of restraint not too fall into her eyes and have a repeat of last night in the bathroom.

"You two better not be fucking in that bathroom," Adrian's unamused voice called from the other side of the door.

"Showering, indecent, knock," I call and Ava stifled her laughter in my shoulder.

"My water pipes, don't fucking care, and I bought the house," Adrian replied before he gently kicked the door causing it to shake slightly.

"Fuck off," I call before kissing Ava's collar bone and opening the door pausing Adrian's fist from colliding with the wooden surface a mere inch from where it had been a split second prior.

"I should have kept going," Adrian mutters eyeing me, and then glancing to Ava in a towel before returning his gaze to me. "Light a candle, please, it smells like sex in here," he adds and leave the haze of disinterest vacating as fast as he entered.

"How does Olivia deal with him?" I ask glancing to Ava who muttered an 'I don't know'.

"I heard that Niles," Adrian bellows as the sound of the stairs supporting his weight could be heard.

"I'll get dressed and head down to help them load the boat," I say and Ava nods before I rushed to pull on clothes and shot out of the room to go help Adrian and Hunter carry items down to the dock, Nico was already there, and was in charge of putting everything in the right places.

When the boat was finally loaded half an hour later the girls came down with coolers, and wrapped meals on trolleys which Nico and Adrian immediately took over before we all climbed the gangplank of the boat and Adrian glanced to Hunter who was lounging in the captains chair.

"Get out of my chair Ambrose," Adrian says with a cracked smile as we all sat on the top deck and cracked open drinks while he backed the boat away from the pier and off onto the water.
