Hunter AmbroseThe week disappeared a lot faster then I suspected and my company was forced to operate on preservation because I wasn't there to over see the operations which was true for everyone but we all had others to ensure our companies kept working.
Adrian wasn't so fortunate since he had so much going on at one time, and I knew the guy had invested and built so much so quickly starting with the transportation industry that was the backbone to everything else he had done. Now he was just our workoholic close friend.
All of us met outside of my building since it was the closest to the road that led up to Waccabuc, and there was enough security out there that it required Adrian to go first and have his security teams know about it. I did worry sometimes even if I liked bugging and teasing Adrian, he had made himself a very large target for anyone wanting to create a strong backing for their career. Taking Adrian out of the picture in a public situation either led to something else happening that my raven haired friend wouldn't approve of, or it was a part of a bigger game Adrian was manipulating to his own victory.
There had been a time when Riley and I wondered if Adrian would ever come for us. And to prove that his loyalties were always to his friends and family. Success wasn't the only thing Adrian wanted, but he desired it for the future of his family, which I could imagine being in the next few years.
"Hunter," Mia says and I glance to her before unlocking the car and we got in. I then slid my coffee tumbler into the nearest cup holder and drove off out of the garage before spotting Nico and Kate in a grey Range Rover, Riley and Ava in a Chevy pickup though Riley seemed to be the more practical of all of us since he'd started to sell anything he and his girlfriend didn't find comfortable.
I also spotted Adrian's S680 and we all then fell in behind him as we all travelled north out of the city towards Waccabuc Lake. The scenery always seemed to change so quickly from the tall steel and concrete towers of New York to small towns, suburban areas, and then rural landscapes as we traveled along the hour long path to the lake. Trees rose up around us densely packed, and letting off the smell of the evergreen needles that covered them as they stood to attention along the side of the damp road, likely from the rains that liked to pass over this section of New York's forests and private lake side properties.
Spotting the cobbled walls that were a common thing to surround Adrian's properties through the planted trees outside of the property I watched the Maybach at the front slow before it turned into the driveway through the wrought iron gates exposing the grey wood siding and black marble sills with the frames matching the tone as a metal. Along with exposed sections and the cobbled elements to make the home seem more like it should have been a classic lake house that Adrian had added too to be his which we all knew he did with everything.
Couldn't settle for what he got at the start for anything.
Parking beside the others, Mia and I got out of the car before looking around at the house that our group likely had the most memories at. Mia and I's relationship was even made a reality here though I'd be dead if I hurt Mia and I know it.
Locking the vehicles we all walked towards the front door with our bags in hand to enter the wood oriented interior of the home with paint and bronze metal being the differential of the palette for the home. Slipping off our shoes I watched Adrian roll his sleeves up and push the back wall of the living room into the wall, which out of all of us, I was certain only Adrian and Olivia used pocket doors on their houses.
"If we're using the boat tomorrow or later today I need to prepare it so later tonight I'll do that," Adrian calls through the house while Kate and Nico settled on the couch with Kate laying against Nico's chest.
