I can't believe this. He stood me up. I offer all my time to try to help him, and he's honestly going be 45 minutes late to the library, of all places. If the guilt tricks him, (and I highly doubt it will because I mean, why would it?), and he decides to actually show up, we'd be shut down in complete darkness. Irritated, I lock my iPhone and stand up. Sliding on my Jansport, with my last year's geometry textbook in hand, (Mrs. Huggins covinced the principle, Mrs. Heartless, to give me mine back in order for me to tutor Matthew), I push in my chair and walk out into the 100 wing. I push open the double doors and release the breath I was holding as I walk to my car. I open the door and toss my bookbag into the back seat before I slide into the driver's side. I roll down my window to clear my head as I back out of my lot. "Paisley!" I slam on breaks and turn around, furious. "What the...Matthew?" There, with his hands on the trunk of my car, bookbag on his back and helmet swaying from his fingers, is the unappreciative jerk. He looks sweaty and I notice that his damp hair has slightly falling over his eyes. Oh, how I itch to push his hair back into place. Stop it, Paisley. Get a grip. Besides, he seems to be out of breath. "Matthew, what do you want?" I snap. "Didn't you hear me calling for you to wait up? Practice went into over-time and Stone wouldn't let me go. I ran here from the football field as fast as I could." I watched as he dipped his head, trying to catch his breath, obviously tired. "You could have told me that I'd be waiting today." I scolded, angrily. "You could have sent word to Mrs. Huggins or could have just come and found me yourself," I added. His facial expression never changed when I added the second part. "I know, and I'm sorry." Woah, did Matthew Thompson just apologize to me? That's a shocker. He cleared his throat. "So are you leaving?" Was I? "I mean I was since you never showed up. And the library's closed now, anyways. Why?" I asked quizzically. "We could go to my house." He stated. Go to Matt's house? No. "To study. Go to your house to study." I was momentarially starstruck. I just got invited to Matt's house. Oh my goodness. Is the world ending? "Yeah. Unless you had other plans, I mean." I didn't have other plans, none at all. All my assignments were completed and my mother wasen't expecting me home for another two hours. But Matthew didn't know that. "I guess I can see if I can cancel them," I sighed. "I'll follow you to your house since I have no idea where it is. Plus I'm not so great with directions." I saw a small smile play at his lips. Aw, am I making Matthew smile? I smirked to myself. His next words threw me off guard though. "Or you could just ride with me." Yes! My mouth went dry as I found myself at a loss for words. He wanted me to ride with him? "Uh....what about my car?" I stated dumbly. "I'll drop you back off here to get it. If you join me, of course. It'd be a shame for you to get lost....since you're bad with directions and all." I saw him smile as he turned to walk towards his car. Oh I get you Mr. Sarcastic, I thought. Like an obedient dog ( or a lovesick puppy in this case ) I re-parked my car, grabbed my purse, bookbag, and keys, handled my textbook, locked my car, and followed the jock to his car, rather unreluctantly.
