"I don't know what it is yet, but he wants something, and bad." I had just finished analyzing mine and Matthew's heartbreakingly short conversation from earlier with Stacy over the phone. After my meeting with Mrs. Huggins and Matt, I lost all hopes of focusing during the rest of my classes. I constantly made mistakes at Guard practice and called out the wrong steps for the routines. My beats were off, and my fingers felt like they had been soaked in butter because I couldn't catch my tosses to save my life. Since I had been home it
had only gotten worse. Lying on my bedroom floor, it was already half past eight and images of Matthew had been splayed in my head all day long. "I mean, does he think I'm a fool or something? I may be blonde, but he isn't going to just automatically try to play me. He was all 'Hey Paisley I'm looking forward to getting to know you better blah blah blah,' and here I am about to pass out from the shock that he even said more than three words to me. Stace, are you listening?" I heard the chuckle behind Stacy's remark as she said, "Yeah, I admit it's out of the blue, but hey, maybe he has a thing for you. Don't they always say that boys are too scared to admit their real feelings so instead they just act like buttholes? I mean that's what Google always told me." I busted out laughing at Stacy, and even as I did I refused to let her (and Google for that matter) get my hopes up. Guys like Matthew don't like girls like me. They prefer the unintelligent, rich, preppy girls instead, the kind of girls that act like they have a golden rod stuck up their rear end. But that's just my opinion. "I don't know Stace, I just have a weird feeling about it.....but maybe I'm just over-reacting." "Just give the guy a chance, Pais. You got this, you always do. Now goodnight my love, my bed is calling to me so I have to go now. Bye!" The call ended as I laughed once more. Only Stacy could lift my spirits and help me forget the task at hand for a while. My first tutoring session with Matthew is tomorrow, Wednesday. We'll be in the AHS library for two whole hours. Just me, him, and a whole lot of small words on large pages. I decided to call it a night and crawled into bed, but before I crashed out I sent a quick prayer to the man above. Lord, I silently prayed, give me the strength, patience, and wisdom to make it through the day tomorrow. Most of all, please watch over me and prevent me from doing anything I'll regret later. Amen.
