I'm doing better than I ever was
'CauseMy baby's fit like a daydream
Walking with his head down
I'm the one he's walking to
So call it what you want, yeah
Call it what you want to
- Call It What You Want, Taylor Swift
Louis was breathing softly. His chest rose and fell with each breath, the duvet covering his body up to his mid-stomach. The fine hairs on his chest stood out when the light from the window hit them. Harry was mesmerised.
He still couldn't actually believe he was there. In Louis' bed. Naked.
It was mind-blowing. He had to squeeze himself to make sure it wasn't a dream.
It was a dream. A dream come true.
Louis stirred slightly in his sleep, his nose scrunching as he moved to lay on his front.
Harry lifted his hand to trace his finger over Louis' spine, and goosebumps formed on the man's skin."Louis," he whispered. "Wake up, sunshine."
Louis stirred and his left eye opened. "Hello," he groggily said, but there was a smile on his lips.
Harry's heart skipped a beat in his chest. "Hey, baby. Slept well?"
Louis wet his lips. "Yeah, I did. Surprisingly." He sat up, pulling the duvet up to his chest.
"Surprisingly?" asked Harry.
Louis nodded. "I get night terrors sometimes. I take medicine that helps make them less..." He trailed off.
"Terrifying?" Harry tried to finish his sentence.
Louis smiled softly. "Exactly."
"I didn't know you had that," Harry said. "Is it often?"
"Nah," Louis said. "It was worse when I was younger."
Harry wanted to ask why. Why did Louis get night terrors? But he was afraid that he would ruin everything that had been building between them since their talk in the office, so he kept his mouth shut. He would take whatever Louis was willing to give him at Louis' own pace.
For now, that was enough. Perhaps it would be enough forever.
"Well, I'm glad you slept well." Harry scooted closer to Louis, and Louis draped his arm around his shoulders. Harry rested his head on Louis' chest. With his eyes closed, he inhaled. "I could stay here forever."
Louis chuckled. "I bet you could. I could too."
"Can we stay like this for some time at least?" Harry whispered.
"Of course." Louis kissed his forehead, and butterflies took flight in Harry's stomach. They basked around his heart.
Harry exhaled, snuggling closer to Louis. "You're warm."
"Thanks?"
Harry grinned and trailed his fingers over Louis' It Is What It Is tattoo. "Why did you get this?"
"Why did you get this?" Louis avoided his question, as he flattened his palm over Harry's butterfly tattoo.
"Don't step around the question," Harry said. "Answer me, I'll answer you."
Louis pursed his lips. "I guess... it's just a reminder that life will fuck you over and you just have to keep on living. You can't change shit but you can learn to live with it."
"That's... deep," Harry mumbled.
"Yeah, so was I last night."
Harry's cheeks turned crimson. "Louis!"
