CHAPTER 20: The Promise

Shoya POV

"Hey guys, look, someone's coming out!" I said.

"Look, a flower! No wait, it's a person!" yelled Sanji-niisan

"What's with him...?" said Usopp-niisan, looking as confused as all of us.

"That old man took out the giant squid in one below! Was he just fishing or did he do that to save us?" Said Zoro-niisan

The old man in question began to drag the squid towards himself with the rope. He glared at the strawhats, making eye contact with Sanji.
But even after a while, he said nothing. He just sat down on his chair and started reading the newspaper.

"SAY SOMETHING!!" yelled Sanji-niisan, annoyed.

The old man sill said nothing. I said, "If you wanna fight, bring it on! We ourselves would be enough, but we've also got a cannon on our side!!"
"Don't, or someone's gonna end up dead" The old man replied
"Oh? And just who might that be?" asked Sanji-niisan
"Me." he replied. There was a momentary silence.
"YOU?!" yelled Sanji-niisan, completely irritated.

"Now, now, calm down, Sanji." said Zoro-niisan, keeping Sanji-niisan back. So, old man, mind telling us who you are and what place this is?"

"It's common courtesy to introduce yourself before starting a conversation, you know?" said the old man
"Oh..right. Sorry about that." replied Zoro-niisan.
"I'm Crocus, the lighthouse keeper of the twin capes. I'm 71 years old, a Gemini, blood type AB."
"NOBODY MINDS IF I KILL HIM, RIGHT?!" yelled Zoro-niisan, visibly angry now.

"You wanted to know where you are? First you have the nerve to enter my Private Resort, and then you start mouthing off with that attitude of yours? Does this place look like the stomach of a rat?" old man Crocus said.

"So, we're really inside the whale's stomach.", said Nami-neesan, "And look at that chunk of rock! It's actually a ship with a steel base, so this sea is probably stomach acid. Let's leave right now, or the merry is gonna dissolve!"

"If you're looking for an exit, there's one right there." said old man Crocus, pointing towards huge gates.

'Wait, what?' I thought.

"How the hell is a gate floating in the sky?! And wait, why is there an exit out of a whale's stomach, anyway?" questioned Usopp-niisan.

"Hey, wait, if you see it carefully, the sky and clouds, everything is a painting!" noticed Nami-neesan.

"This is my way of enjoyment, you know. I'd get bored here otherwise," old man Crocus said.

Suddenly the sea began to shake. Or well, the whale.

"What's happening?!" I exclaimed.

"So, he's started again, has he?" said old man crocus.

"Whaddya mean? What's happening?" asked Usopp-niisan.

"This whale...he's bashing his head against the red line. He's got a habit of doing that for a while now"

"Oh! Now that I think about it, the whale's forehead was covered in scars, and it was bellowing at the sky!" exclaimed Nami-neesan, "I get it now! This old man must be trying to hurt him, which is putting the whale in so much pain it's bashing his head against the grand line!"

The old man suddenly jumped into the sea of acid.

"Is he trying to get himself dissolved?!" exclaimed Usopp-niisan.

"Well, if we're done solving the mystery, we should get going. We have neither the time nor the obligation to save the whale." Said Zoro-niisan. Woah, that was cold.
