CHAPTER 6: Will you join my crew?

Shoya POV

After the slightly elongated-for-no-real-reason battle, I was...not tired at all. I mean, the guy was pretty weak, maybe I'd be relatively more tired, but well, I had Luffy-niisan and Zoro-niisan and in the end Nami-neesan as well, my newly found friends, with me.

"Good work, kiddo!", cheered Nami-neesan, "What's your name?". "Takeda Shoya", I reply. "Glad to have you as a new friend."

"Wait, huh?", Nami-neesan asked, with a confused look, which confused me too. "Huh? What? I mean, if Luffy-niisan is my friend, and you are Luffy-niisan's friend, that means you're my friend too, right?", I reply.

"He's not my friend!" yelled Nami-neesan. "But we worked together now, so we're friends, right?" I ask, since I thought it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Just working together does not mean you become friends! And, I'm a thief! Why'd you wanna be friends with a thief?" Nami-neesan said.

"Why NOT?!" I ask, now completely confused.  I continue, "If someone is my friend, it  doesn't matter what their identity is and what they do. As long as they are good people at heart, which is the reason they are friends with me in the first place, I'll die fighting for them. Isn't that how friends are?"

"Uhh....just consider me 'working together' with Luffy. I'm not a crew member, and I won't be. You are welcome to think of me whatever way you want, but always remember that I'm a thief by nature." said Nami-neesan.

"So that's a yes?" I asked happily. "Ugh, Whatever" replied Nami-neesan. I felt like the conversation was too long, it should've ended with a yes long ago.

Then came Zoro-niisan. He was bleeding from his sides. I looked at him, he was walking so casually and calmly, as if he hadn't just returned from a battle and wasn't hurt at all.

Narrator POV

"Sheesh," Nami said, "You guys are monsters. You, Zoro, walk like nothing's happened even though you're pretty badly hurt. You even escaped a blast while asleep. You, Luffy, are a rubber person, so normal physical attacks like punches and kicks, and even bullets and cannonballs can't damage you. Wait, what can YOU do, kiddo?" Zoro smirked at the comment on him, and Luffy laughed.

"Whoa, t-that's kinda rude. I can control gravity. If I can have enough control maybe nothing can hit me at all." Says Shoya

"Wait, seriously? Uhh, Luffy, tell me one thing: how strong is he?" Asks Nami.

"Hmm...that guy wasn't all that strong, so I don't know, probably almost as strong as me?" Luffy replies.

Nami says, visibly shocked and doubtful, "A-Alright then, another name added to the list."  Shoya gives a toothy grin at the remark.

"Tch. I wasn't praising you, idiots." Nami said, then chuckled. "Well, whatever. Luffy and Zoro, here's to the start of our new alli-"

"Wait!", Luffy yelled. Then he continued, "Before that, Shoya. You're joining my crew, right? My crew will definitely be stronger if you're with me too. We'll enjoy a real lot, and we'll carry our own dreams!"

Shoya POV

"..You're joining my crew, right?...."

Luffy-niisan's words echoed in my head. I hadn't thought about that. But it seemed like an offer with an obvious answer.

I mean, they're my friends now, how the hell could I refuse joining them?

"Yeah, of course, Luffy-niisan" I reply. "Woohoo! We have a new member, Zoro, Nami!" yelled Luffy-niisan.

"We never agreed to join your pirate crew, you idiot!!" Zoro-niisan and Nami-neesan both yelled in unison, with the usual razor-sharp teeth.

Luffy-niisan started, "Come on guys, I know you really wanna-" But he was cut off by Zoro-niisan and Nami-neesan, who once again yelled with razor sharp teeth, "NO WE DON'T!!!"

"Awww" Luffy-niisan replied, kinda pouting.

"Jeez, well then, lemme continue now," said Nami-neesan, sighing, "Here's to the start of our alliance!"

Luffy POV

The villagers come running towards the place where the battle happened. They saw the old mayor lying on the ground near a wall.

They shout, "Mayor! Hey, who did this?!". Then they look towards us. They ask, "Who are you guys? And did you do this?"

I say, "Well... we're pirates. And uh, that old guy was being a pain in the ass, so I knocked him out for a bit."

Nami shouts, "You idiot! Why'd you tell them?!" She looked very angry, which confused me. I reply, "Well, they asked, so I told th-"
SMACK!
Nami hit me on the forehead with a punch.
I said, "Well, guys... let's run now!"
"Well, no other choice I guess" said Zoro.

We were running away from the villagers who had bats and wooden staffs and utensils in their hands.

Then I hear the bark of a puppy.  "Chouchou!" I yell. That guy, he came to help us. "Thanks, chouchou! Shishishi" I pat him on the head and keep running.

Nami POV

"Ughhh...it's hard to run with this treasure!" I say with mixed feelings. I got the treasure but it's slowing me down. I won't leave it though, never.

The villagers were still following us. "So persistent!" I shout.

"I guess they all really love their mayor" said Luffy

Then I hear the bark of a puppy. It was that one from before...It looks battered out but it's still standing.

"Thanks, Chouchou!Shishishi" Luffy exclaims.

"Get out of our way! Chouchou, they're enemies! They hurt the mayor!" the villagers yelled, but Chouchou didn't budge. "I guess they aren't known for their loyalty for nothing." I say

After a while, we arrive at the shore, because...that idiot Luffy! He has no sense of direction at all! We went in circles before we could actually reach the shore.

"You idiots! Filthy pirates!" the villagers yelled, but we had already gotten far away from them.

Then the mayor woke up. Apparently he was being carried by a villager on his back.

We got onto our boat, and Shoya brought his own boat near ours and jumped onto it.

"Put me down, you idiot!" the mayor yelled, "Ugh, my back...Anyways, none of you can say anything to them! I'm the only one allowed to call them idiots!"

Our boats had already begun to sail.
The mayor looked down for a while like he was thinking through something, then yelled with tears in his eyes, "Thank You! For all you've done for us, thankyou, kids! I will never forget you!"

This brought a smile to our faces though Zoro seemed to be smirking rather than smiling but who cares. "Yeah! Shishishi" yelled Luffy happily.
