The roar of the crowd echoed through the whole city and vibrated his ears. Taking a deep breath and arms outstretched, as if bathing in their cheers. Gabriel stared at the stadium which was the size of Central Park. The poster of Crimson Noir and her steed, and others hung on the stadium.

The bronze statue of a middle age man, stood right outside the entrance. The stone slab the read Mayor Gregor. Grimacing at the sight, Gabriel touch the scar on his left cheek.

Fond memories, Gabriel thought sarcastically.

Just then, a dozen cop cars followed by a black limo then followed by another dozen cars hovered in the entrance. A cop open the back door of the limo, and Mayor Henry came out, waving at people. His personal bodyguards followed, carrying high military grade weapons.

Seeing the guns made Gabriel touch his scar once again, fond memories.

The cops and the Mayor's personal bodyguards hurried him into the stadium.

Normally Gabriel though it was annoying and maybe a little funny how much rich people spent on bodyguards, but given what happened to the previous Mayor he can't say he really blamed them.

The main entrance had rows of people waiting in line, some where even camp outside, perhaps waiting for the next race. The paparazzi were swarming the area like a hive of bees.

One of them even tried flying into the stadium on his hoverboard, camera in hand. But when he reach the edge of the Stadium, sparks of electricity burst and he was sent flying down. He only survived cause he landed of on a bouncy house next to the stadium. At least, Gabriel thought he survived. The electric barrier was supposed be non lethal, not sure about the fall though.

Then the new rookies where showing up, their shining stallions made of bronze silver and gold, some breath fire, others had metallic wings like a pegasus.

The gears and wiring of those things must've of have cost a fortune.

All these rich kids, whose mummy and daddy gave them money to show off.

It was a big crowd, Gabriel thought.

Well, no surprise there, after all, Crimson Noir was showing up and would race against new the challenger's. People can wait to meet the new face's she would crush.

Neigh!

The stamping hooves of his robotic horse following beside him nudging him.

Gabriel scratched it's mane, a mane made of rusty old wires, he looked in to the horse's blue bulb eyes.

"Soon," Gabriel said as the leaned his head on the horse's own, which was made of leftover metals from a garbage dumped.

"Soon," he said again.

"Soon Hans we...we will race. Race the best. Be the best. I know it. This time they will not reject us!"

"No" said the manager as handed him a pieced of paper, with giant words stamped that had the word REJECTED.

The boy, wide eyed yank the paper from the race manager's hand stared at it. The giant REJECTED word that filled the paper began to filled his head. The word he'd known all his life. What he felt when his parents left him for dead. Hans whined and shook his head, in defeat.

"But...but why?" But he knew why. And when he looked up at the manager, and saw that he wouldn't meet the boy's gaze, his suspicions were confirmed :

No one wanted a slum kid with a criminal record and and his rusty steed in the race. It would not be a good look.

The manager ordered security to get him and Hans out.

Then a door opened as security shooed the unwanted paparazzi. He heard the roar of the crowd once more. The oohs and ahh's filled his ears with excitement and giving a rush like no other.
