chapter eight: out of order.

"WAKEY WAKEY" i shout jumping on the bed. Lando groans and rolls over. I frown and carry on jumping, "ITS QUALIFYING DAY" i shout. He chuckles and rolls back over staring to me, "And my girlfriend won't let me sleep" he says before pulling me down on top of him. "Lando" i squeal giggling. He smiles against my head, "What time is it babe?" He asks wrapping his arms round my waist. "7am" I say muffled against his chest. "Shit sorry" he says laughing and sitting up in bed. I lean my head on his chest and stare to him, "What you looking at" he asks smiling. I smile, "My handsome boyfriend" i say sweetly. He rolls his eyes, "Stop being a charmer Mel" he says. I smirk and get up sitting on his lap after he adjust himself so he's sat up in bed.

His phone pings and he reaches over to get it, "Christian says, breakfast in 20 see you there, so we better get a move on" he says. My jaw drops, "20 minutes? I can't do glam in 20 minutes" i say climbing off his lap. He chuckles, "I guess no glam for you this morning then Melody" he says getting out of bed as well.

I run to the bathroom and start cleaning my teeth, he comes up behind me and rests his head on my shoulder. I finish brushing my teeth and clean my face while he holds me, "Are you excited for Qualifying?" I ask. He nods, "Always, i love racing more than anything" he says kissing my shoulder. I leave him to get ready in the bathroom and go to the wardrobe picking out a tracksuit for breakfast. "Is Max gonna be there?" I say as Lando strolls back in in his towel. "I don't know baby probably" he says coming to the wardrobe next to me. "Helping yourself to my tracksuits are we?" He asks smiling at me. I roll my eyes, "Well there's not exactly any women's clothes in here" i say gesturing. Lando laughs and nods, "Fair play" he says grabbing tracky bottoms and a T-shirt.

"Shit I haven't got any underwear" I say frantically running around the room. He chucks me a pair of his boxers, "You can borrow them. And I mean BORROW because don't think I didn't notice you stole a pair" he says. I giggle, "Just too comfy" I say before getting changed.

Once we're both dressed, we walk out the hotel room and down to Lando's driver who's waiting for us. I hop in and then Lando gets in after me. "Morning Lando" the driver says. Lando smiles, "Morning Mark. Sorry we're late. This one is slow at getting ready" he says turning to me and grinning. I roll my eyes. "I thought it was Melody. How are you" Mark says smiling to me. I nod, "All good Mark!" I say. Mark was Max's old driver. And then our dad got into an argument with him and fired him. I used to love Mark he was always so kind. "You know Mark?" Lando asks turning to me. I nod, "Yeah he's amazing, before my dad went psychotic on him. I'm so sorry about that Mark. Honestly me and Max cannot apologise enough" I say frowning. Mark shakes his head, "Don't be silly Melody it wasn't your fault" he says. I smile and lean into Lando as we drive off.

We finally make it to the restaurant and stumble inside giggling. Max. Kelly. Christian and Geri are sat staring to us as the restaurant seems to go quiet. Max looks pissed. So does Christian. Oops. "Apologies, my bad. I tried to get ready quickly but for some reason I couldn't" I say sliding in next to Christian. Lando sits next to me and Kelly is on his other side. "Even though I told her we had 20 minutes and we had 40" he says smiling. None of them seem very happy with us. "Are you all ready for Qualifying later?" Christian asks turning to Lando. Lando nods, "Yep! Feeling good this morning" he says putting a hand on my thigh not subtly at all. I cringe slightly because I'm sure everyone else has seen that.

"So Melody. You're just living at Lando's then?" Max asks glaring to me. I sigh, "Yes Max I find that its more comfortable then your apartment" I say rudely. Christian sighs, "You two. Seriously. Knock it off" he says shaking his head. Geri takes a sip of her coffee, "Good night?" She asks me and Lando. My face clearly goes bright red. What the fuck has Max said. "Always with Melody it is" Lando says putting his hand on my chin and bringing it to face him before planting a peck on my lips. I am as red as anything right now. Kelly giggles and Max shoots her a glare.

The waiter comes over to take our orders, Lando's arm has gone to the back of my chair now so it looks like he's protecting me. Gosh. I just like this man too much. "I'll have a caramel iced latte and an Açai bowl please" I say grinning. The waiter nods and writes down the order. "Eggs Benedict please" Lando says, "Of course Sir, and how would you like your eggs?" He asks. Lando smiles, "Boiled please" he says. Max scoffs. This is a really fun breakfast, "And my teammate here will have whatever he can be in control of, maybe the soldiers and eggs?" Lando says looking to Max. Max rolls his eyes, "Avocado on toast please." Max says annoyed. Christian and Geri are clearly finding this entertaining. "Me and my wife will have the granola and yogurt please" Christian says.

Once the waiter has gone, Max turns to me, "A word outside. Now" he says throwing his napkin down and getting up. "No I'm fine thanks!" I say taking a sip of water. "Melody I said now." Max says going outside. I roll my eyes and follow him.
"What the fuck is your problem?" He asks when we're both outside. "What do you mean?" I say innocently. He scoffs, "You and Lando. Really. You know I am fucking livid about it and your sat prancing it about in front of Christian and Geri?" Max asks. I roll my eyes, "Max its not a big deal." I say going to walk away. He grabs my arm and pulls me back, "Your a fucking slag Melody." He says before letting my arm go. I walk back inside fighting back tears and sit back down. Christian looks to Lando confused and he turns to me, "What's happened?" He whispers in my ear. I shrug him away from me, "Nothing" I say trying to fight back tears.

How could Max be so cruel. "I need to use the restroom" I say getting up as Max walks back. Lando gets up quickly and follows me, "Baby what's happened?" He asks taking me by the waist and pulling me back to him. "Max called me a slag." I say letting a loose tear stray. "He did what?" Lando asks getting angry. I lean into his touch, "He called me a slag" I repeat shaking my head. Lando sighs, "Melody. We can't keep going on like this. He can't keep doing this" lando says letting go of me. I turn to him, "What do you mean?" I ask him confused. He scans my eyes, "I'm gonna sort this out ok? I promise you" he says kissing my cheek gently and then guiding me back to the table.

"All ok Melody?" Geri asks. I nod, "Yep all fine" I say sitting back down. My thigh starts shaking and Lando puts his hand on it to calm me down, "Your ok. Let's just get through this ok" he whispers in my ear. I nod and my thigh starts to calm down from shaking. We eat our food only really making small talk. Max won't even look at me. Once we're done, me and Lando say thank you to Christian and Geri and then walk out together. "Baby go back to the apartment. Get ready for the race. I'll be there in an hour maximum" Lando says waving to Mark. I shake my head, "No what stay with me" I plead. He sighs, "Do you trust me?" He asks. I think for a moment. "Of course I do Lando" I say softly. He nods, "Then go back to the apartment. I'll be there soon I promise" he says before kissing my cheek.

I get back into the car and Mark drives me back to the apartment.
