[another short one]
Willow sat on the bed with just a plate of cookies. She didn't feel like eating anything at the moment so she just grabbed what seemed like a small snack. Luckily for her, the table only had one dessert serving and she was able to snatch it first.
Of course, 'cookies' wouldn't exactly be named as a dessert but it was probably the only sweet thing there. Her brother, on the other hand, had grabbed a portion of some soup. He told her to grab some too but she refused.
So now, her brother poured half of his into a empty bowl he grabbed and placed it right in front of her on the nightstand "Eat it. You'll never be full with just cookies."Willow rolled her eyes but grabbed it anyways.
Just as she did so, she accidentally touched a hot part of the bowl where Owen spilled the soup a bit and burned her hand.
Luckily, she didn't lift the bowl high enough for it to spill a lot. Just a small puddle form.Owen stood up immediately and grabbed Willow's hand. A flower sprouted from his closed hand and twisted onto Willows's.
Willow squinted her face into a disgusted look as when the flower glowed. The healing process never hurt, but sometimes it can have a small tingle that Willow was not used to.
She tried to move away but Owen held it back in place "Don't tense up. It'll take longer."Willow nodded and didn't try to pry away anymore until Owen sighed and let go.
"You okay? It didn't hurt too much?"
She shook her head, holding her hand in front of her "I'm fine. Or I am fine now. Thanks Owen."
Owen nodded and stood up to grab the bowl "I'll finish this and then bring this back to the kitchen. You relax."Willow nearly scoffs "You healed me Owen. I'm fine."
"My powers are not strong Willow. It should take at least a day before you can fully heal again."
"But that doesn't mean I'm weak." Willow stood up "I can get it."
"Willow. I'm older than you, and so I'm telling you to relax."
"I'm not a little girl anymore Owen. And I can assure you I'm fine-" Willow reached over to grab the bowl but her fingers slipped.Unfortunately it seemed Owen didn't hug the bowl tightly. By Willow grabbing it but slipping, the bowl fell onto the ground.
It shattered into pieces of glass.
Willow stepped back just in time before any of them pierced her skin. Owen wasn't so lucky. He got a cut on his finger as he kneeled down to pick up the pieces.
Willow stared at him as he quickly grabbed his hand and proceeded to do the healing process on himself.
"Owen, I-"
Owen stopped her "I-I'm fine."Willow hesitated "You don't look fine." She said quietly.
Owen nodded "I-I need to get some type of medical tool." He panicky said and then rushed out of the room.
Willow ran after him "Owen wait-"She felt bad.
She felt more bad than she've ever felt in her whole life.
Why didn't she just listen? He was technically her older brother. He knew better.
He was the one with the healing powers. He was the one trying to become a doctor when he grows up.
Was this just her personality? In only a few seconds, Willow managed to lose Owen in the maze of hallways they informed as a palace.
Willow sighed and walked back to the room. Owen wouldn't take long out. He'll come back eventually. She questioned why Owen seemed to be panicking from just a cut.
She had gotten one before, and sure it hurts but it didn't hurt that much.
A line of conversations interrupted her thoughts. She realized it came from another guest room. One that wasn't occupied by her friends. She tilted her head. This wasn't really her business but she was curious. So she placed her head on the door and tried to quiet her breathing.
"-escape tomorrow at the crack of dawn. Before anyone wakes up."
"Where are we going to go after that?"
"There's this one place I've been suspicious of ever since the start." There was the crumpling of paper and then a gasp.
"The Crystal cave? Why?"
"Not many know about it. It's the perfect hiding spot."
"But it's so far away! There's no way we can make it before papa notices."There was silence. Willow lifted her head off the door. She looked down the hall incase someone would spot her but it was late so no one did. Surprisingly, the late sun still shined down through the window. She didn't need any light yet.
"Than I guess we just have to hope Louisiana or Nevada won't look for us."She froze. Louisiana and Nevada as in.. the state? Why would they be talking about them like they were human?
"If we wanted to head to the crystal cave by nightfall than we would need items. Do you think they have at least a lantern here?"
"Not a lantern but maybe a candle."
"No way, that can burn your hand!"
"We'll just put on the gloves Louisiana built. I brought some actual-"
"Wait.""What is it?"
"Do you hear something?"
Willow quickly started walking away. She never noticed the door was so thin before but maybe that was because people were talking.
She hopes her footsteps weren't too loud that those people would hear them. But she highly doubted they were hidden since she was trying to rush back into the room. This is what she gets for being too curious.
