Chapter 30

- Chance

The next morning I woke up to Kyreon screaming bloody murder. I looked over at Ryland and she was knocked out with Keegan on her chest sleeping peacefully as well. I crept out of bed and down the hallway. I went into the nursery and scooped him up.
"What's poppin little man." I asked him. As soon as I started talking he settled down. "Daddy loves you dude, and I'll do anything for you little man." I was pacing back and forth, gently bouncing him up and down. I grabbed his play mat and prepared myself to walk down the stairs. I made it to the living room and laid down his mat, then I gently lay him down on it. I grabbed the remote control and my PS4 controller. I heard something in the kitchen so I got up and walked into the other room.
"Good morning ugly." Ryland said. She was holding Keegan in one hand and two bottles in the other.
"Good morning." I said, I walked over and kissed her cheek. We went back into the living room and sat on the couch. She put Keegan down by her brother and leaned into my shoulder.
"So, what are yall going to do with Naomi."
"I don't know. He's probably going to let Crysta decide. I'll be right back though bae." I said getting up. I walked upstairs and went into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and washed my face, then entered the adjoining closet. I put on some dark wash Levi's, a white Polo button down, and my Timbs. I finished in the closet and walked back downstairs. She looked up at me and said,
"Where are you going?"
"We gotta go see Hector in Orange County today."
Hector was our plug. We only met with him twice every three months.
"Oh, shit. I forgot. What time are yall gonna be back? I wanna take the kids shopping."
"I don't know bae, but not too late. Probably around 3 or 3:30."
"Okay, just text me when you're on your way back." I walked over, knelt down and kissed my kids, then kissed Ry and walked out the door to my car.
When I got in I pulled out my phone and called Chop.
"Hello?" he answered on the third ring.
"You ready fam? I'm on my way."
"Yeah man, I'm getting dressed now. I should be ready by the time you get here."
"Bet."
"One."
I hung up an started the car. I drove out of the neighborhood and pulled into the Chevron on the corner of Hewes and 7th. I got out and prepared to walk into the store but a female calling my name stopped me.
"Grimm?" she said. She was holding a gorgeous little girl on her left hip.
"What's up? Do I know you?"
"Boy stop playing with me." she laughed. The little girl started playing with the curls that fell past her shoulders.
I just looked at her.
"You really don't remember me?"
"I'm sorry but I don't." I shook my head.
"My name is Leila. We hooked up at a party a few years back."
"Damn shorty, I'm an asshole, and I apologize."
"It's cool."
"This your baby?" I asked grabbing the child's hand and shaking it. She giggled, and buried her face into Leila's neck.
"Yours too." she said looking at the ground.
"Look, now really isn't the time for this. I'll take a test or whatever, but right now I've got shit to take care of. 2283857610."
She pulled out her phone and put my number in it.
"I'll call you on my next day off."
"Yeah." I said walking towards the store. I walked in and to the counter to pay for my gas. I exited the store and went back to my car. After I got done I was headed to Chop's.
I pulled up and honked the horn. No later than 5 set he was in my front seat.
"What the fuck took you so long bruh?"
I pulled out of his driveway and was headed for Hector's.
"Man I ran into a bitch at the store named Leila. She claiming I'm her baby's daddy."
"Damn. I'm surprised you ain't caught nothing yet. You slick was a hoe after you and Ry split." he said laughing.
"Man fuck you." I said laughing too.
"What you gone do?"
"Imma meet with her, set up an appointment and shit, then tell Ry."
"Wait what? Why you gone wait to tell her?"
"Cause what if the baby ain't mine. It's drama that can be avoided."
We pulled up to Hector's.
"You ready fam?" I put on my black ski mask and pulled the AK from the black bag in the backseat. He put on a fitted cap, a pair of ray bans, and tied a red bandana around his mouth. He pulled out a pump shotgun and a carbine rifle from the bag. He pulled out his cellphone and sent a message. Five minutes later three black vans filled with our street soldiers pulled up, all carrying weapons of their choice.
We got out and they followed suit. We walked up to the warehouse and prepared for the worst. I turned the doorknob and entered the building.

I walked into the house as quietly as I could. It was well after three and I had told Ryland we would go shopping. I crept up the stairs and peeked into the nursery. It was empty. I crept further down the hallway to our bedroom and opened the door. Ryland was asleep, face up, with Kyreon on her left and Keegan on her right. I pulled out my phone and took a picture of the lovely sight in front of me. I set it as my lock screen and walked up to into the closet. I grabbed a pair of faded Tru's, a black and red 'Lust' crewneck, and my pair of all red custom forces. I went into the bathroom and cut on the shower. Before I could get undressed my phone rang. The number wasn't saved so I was skeptical about answering.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hey, can we meet tomorrow around 2?" the girl said.
"Who is this?"
"Leila."
"Oh yeah. It's cool, imma see what my schedule lookin like."
"Alright. Just let me know before then so I can reschedule the testing."
"Alright."
"Yeah." she hung up.
I got undressed and got into the shower. Minutes later Ryland opened the door and started using the bathroom.
"Girl, I know you see me in this shower!" I said laughing.
"And I know you see I don't give a fuck. How was the meeting with Hector."
I was silent for a moment before I responded.
"It was straight, the usual." I said lying through my teeth. We massacred Hector and his goons, took all his coke, then set the warehouse on fire.
"Good." she flushed the toilet, washed her hands, then exited the bathroom. I finished in the shower and got out. I got dressed and went into the bedroom.
"Get dressed Ry. I'll take the babies and get them ready."
"Where we going?" she asked looking up from her phone.
"Just do what I said girl."
I took my babies into the nursery and got them dressed. Keegan had one a 'i'm cuter than mommie' onesie and a pair of baby Gap dark jeans, with her baby Columbia 11's. While Kyreon had on a onesie that said 'SWAG' in red letters and a pair of dark wash baby Tru's, with his baby Timbs.
I grabbed both diaper bags and playmats and went downstairs.

- Ryland
I went downstairs to find Chance looking at TV and the babies on the couch strapped in their car seats.
"I'm ready kid." I said.
He looked over at me and put the goofiest grin on his face.
"You look good ma." he said.
I had on a pair of black slate jeans, a black tank top under a white jean vest, and some white forces.
"Thanks, I try, I try."
"Well let's go."
He grabbed the babies and I grabbed the diaper bags and we were headed out the door.
