21st District Police Department, Chicago Illinois

Jay and Sam got back to the apartment later that night, unfortunately legally speaking they couldn't do anything even if this piece of trash showed up in the city. All Jay could do was keep tracking this prick's phone and try his best to keep Sam safe.

There was no way he was letting this prick near his sister ever again, the minute he tries he might not be able to stop himself from beating the crap out of this guy. "Hey Jay, how's Sam doing?" Mouse asked as walked into the breakroom and made himself a coffee. Jay sighed as he stirred his coffee, "She's really freaked out... She'll leave the apartment to go to work, but she's constantly looking over her shoulders..." Jay replied and shook his head.

Mouse nodded, "We'll get him, man," he said trying to reassure the detective. "His phone pinged in Naperville 5 minutes ago but the phone is off so I can't track it. I'm gonna start going through pod footage and see if I can find his car and maybe where he's hiding, Oh and I'm running his financials and bank statements as we speak" Mouse adds.

"Thanks, let me know if anything comes up," Jay replied as he took his coffee and made his way back over to his desk. He pulled out his phone and called Sam as he took a seat, "Hey how's it going?" Sam said answering the call on the second ring. "Good, I just wanted to call and check in on you, see how you were doing?" Jay said more than asked. "I'm alright, laying on the couch watching The Lion King," Sam replied.

Jay smiled hearing Hakuna Matata playing in the background, "Well enjoy the movie, if you get hungry there's leftover spaghetti in the fridge from last night," he said. "I will, I love you, Jay," she replied. "I love you too Sammi, call me if you need anything," Jay added. "I will, see you later," Sam said. "See you in a bit," Jay said before he hung up the call.

Firehouse 51, Chicago Illinois

The next morning Jay drove Sam over to the firehouse for her first shift, before he went to work. "Save some lives, be safe out there," Jay said to Sam as she hopped out of his truck. "I will, you be safe out there too. Love you," Sam said with a smile as she made her way up the driveway of the firehouse. Sam sent one last wave to Jay as he drove away and she walked through the large double doors of the firehouse 51.

Sam made her way inside and to the common room with her duffle bag over her shoulder. Everyone was in the common room having breakfast and coffee. "No Way! You actually applied to the position?!?" Gabby said more than asked with a massive smile when she saw Sam. "I did, and what are the odds they'd place me here at 51," Sam replied as Gabby pulled her into a hug. "Hey, I'm Sylvie Brett. Your Ambo partner on 61," a blonde said holding her hand out to Sam after she and Gabby let go of their hug.

"Sam Halstead," She replied shaking Sylvie's hand while she sent the brunette a confused look for a second. "Halstead? As in- Will and Jay Halstead's little sister," Gabby added causing the blonde to nod. "Here, we'll show you around before the morning briefing," Sylvie said as she and Gabby led Sam out of the room and to the locker room.

They showed Sam which locker she could put her stuff in and Gabby got her the CFD paramedic uniform to change into. After she was changed and put her stuff away in her locker she put her name on tape on the outside of her locker before Sam followed Gabby and Sylvie into a meeting room. Where everyone was gathering already for their daily morning briefing.

Gabby and Sylvie took a seat at one of the many tables while Sam hovered at the back of the room leaning against the wall. "it's nice to see you back in Chicago," Kelly said standing next to her holding a mug of coffee. Sam went to high school with Gabby who was in her grade, and Kelly was a couple of grades above her with Will and Antonio. "yea, it's been a while," Sam replied as Chief Boden walked in and stood at the front of the room.

"Good morning everyone," Chief said and the talking in the room instantly died down and stopped. "First order of business, please welcome Samantha Halstead as the new paramedic on Ambo 61," Chief Boden said as the room started clapping. "Any relation to Jay and Will?" an older man asked. Sam nodded, "My older brothers, and please just call me Sam," she said looking at Chief Boden.

The intercom sounded causing Sam to jump at the sudden sound, "Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61 vehicle fire 2700 block of Roosevelt Avenue," the call announced as everyone started making their way out of the room. Sam made her way out of the meeting room and out to the ambo. On the way, she felt eyes on her causing her to look up meeting Kelly's gaze for a second before she made her way around the ambo and climbed into the passenger seat. Sylvie climbed in the driver's seat, started the ambo, and pulled out of the driveway after truck and squad.

Kelly and Sam made eye contact again before he pulled onto the road and they followed him. Did Sam jump when the call announcement came in or was he seeing things? the lieutenant asked himself as they drove towards the scene.

2700 Roosevelt Avenue Chicago Illinois

Ambo 61 pulled up to the scene after truck and squad. Sam and Sylvie climbed out of the ambo noticing a city bus had rear ended a panel van and, smoke was rising from the bus. Sylvie and Sam pulled a stretcher out of the back of the ambo along with their two jump bags noticing muffled screaming coming from inside the bus.

One of the middle windows suddenly broke and a bunch of people nearly fell out of the busted window of the city bus. Lieutenant Casey and Severide started ordering their men to find where the smoke was coming from, others were ordered to help evacuate the bus while Lieutenant Severide and squad started looking for another way into the bus to get the passengers out.

"Grab a ladder," someone called as an explosion of fire came from the front of the bus sending the pannel van in flames. "Get extinguishers on that!" Lieutenant Casey yelled. After a few seconds, 3 firefighters hit the flames of the van with extinguishers knocking the flames down. Sam and Sylvie started triage and working on the most critical patients on the bus, along with calling for multiple ambulances for multiple injuries on scene.
