"Starburst" Sonic The Hedgehog Au

Back in the swing of things

Sonic's chest rose and fell with labored breaths. With his body so low on energy he was experiencing side effects that resulted in his body feeling cold and a horrible throbbing pain in his head. While he slept he would bundle deeper into the blankets he had to try and warm up more.

It took quite a while for Tails to figure out what exactly happened to the inhibitor. Knowing this the two-tailed fox decided to put a halt on working on the device until he felt it be a more appropriate time to do so. With the amount of stress Sonic has had to deal with in such a short time Tails didn't want to risk hurting his friend further.

Tails quietly came up the stairs to briefly check on Sonic. It has been roughly 4 hours after he heard Sonic begging for help. Hearing him sound that distressed deeply bothered Tails. Just thinking about it caused his chest to feel tight and his stomach to twist up in discomfort.

He quietly walked over to Sonic's hammock and gently shook the hammock. "...Sonic? Are you doing alright? It's been a few hours and I wanna check in on you... Are you awake?"

He asked with a soft tone to his voice, however stress was very much displayed on the young fox's face. Sonic being jostled in the hammock and hearing Tails speak, Sonic groaned and slowly woke up.

His eyes parted as his vision was met with a pillow blocking his view. He slowly lifted his arm and pulled the pillow off of his head. He blinked a few times before he drew out a very long and deep yawn. He slowly sat up a little bit to see who was waking him up. As he sat up Tails watched with baited breaths making sure Sonic was moving and recovering alright.

Sonic blinked a few more times as he looked over at Tails and flashed a lazy smile to the nervous fox. Tails seeing this felt his stomach and chest relax a little bit, as the fact Sonic was sitting up and even smiling was a good sign to him.

Sonic rubbed his eyes and huffed softly. "..mm what's up buddy?" He spoke softly as he pulled the blanket off of himself and instead draped it around his shoulders to wrap it around himself a bit more.

The lower-than-normal levels made Sonic feel colder than he was used to, and he felt the need to be swaddled up to maintain a comfortable level of warmth.

Tails sighed slowly as he carefully began to fidget with the hem of his glove as he spoke to Sonic. " I was just checking in on you and making sure you were doing better. "

Sonic flicked his ear before he chuckled softly. " Ah right, thanks. I'm doing a little better. I'm a little groggy but nothing like relaxing with my buddy won't fix. I'll be back to normal by the end of the day for sure." He spoke with a cockiness to his tone.

Tails shoulders relaxed more as he nodded. " I know you're pretty quick to bounce back, but I still get worried."

" Nnawwww- you're all good. Here, I'm feeling better enough to get up and maybe we can watch something on the TV and maybe go visit Knucklehead to see how he's doing. I'm sure his ego was surely bruised with that fight.." Sonic spoke trying to lighten the mood however it slightly backfired on him reminding him how violent Nova was with everyone. Sonic briefly paused as he thought about how he felt.

However, the moment Tails spoke Sonic blinked a few times and regained his focus on Tails speaking. Tails agreed with Sonic finding the idea acceptable for the situation at hand. Sonic needed to move around and get out of the house again. Tails gave Sonic a thumbs up as he smiled more warmly feeling much better about how Sonic was doing.
