Man, I feel so bad for Sarah

Carlos should not have sheltered her as badly as he did. Because now she is a danger to others because of how incapable of functioning she is

I get that he wanted to protect her from how awful the world is, but you can't do that, especially when it's a damn apocalypse

Also not me dying laughing at my own title for this chapter SKSKS

TW!! Clement has a panic attack towards the end of this chapter! Please be cautious!

The sun was now a bit over the mountains in the distance, not quite overhead yet. (Y/N) squints a bit as she looks up at it, estimating it was around nine in the morning.

She looks back down to the others ahead, jogging lightly to Clement's side. He offers a small smile her way, making her mirror it in return as they follow Jane, Rebecca trailing after them.

They had wiped away most of the walker guts and blood on their clothing and faces, though traces of it lingered on their clothing and stained it. Jane walks at a brisk pace, her boots crunching the soil on the trail they were following.

(Y/N) glances over her shoulder to check on Rebecca, her brows furrowing with concern at her fatigued state. She slows down to match her pace, Clement noticing and sighing out his nose as he does the same, walking at (Y/N)'s other side.

Rebecca winces as she sharply inhales in pain, cradling her stomach gently with gritted teeth.

"We, uh," Clement rubs the back of his neck. "We can stop for a minute. If you need to."

"Yeah," (Y/N) agrees, smiling with concern. "You should rest for a minute or two. We don't mind."

Rebecca quickly shakes her head. "No, no... I can rest when we're with the others."

(Y/N) and Clement exchange a worried glance.

She bites at her cheek, watching Rebecca. "But..."

"I can't rest now," Rebecca sighs, looking ahead with determination. "Can't just stop. I need to make sure everyone else made it out. Luke... Sarah... God damn it, what if they aren't there?"

(Y/N)'s face falls as her heart twinges with fear, Clement's gaze casting to the side as his lips curl down in a worried frown.

"If they aren't..." Jane speaks for the first time since they've left the herd. "Nothing we can do about it."

Rebecca scowls, "don't even say things like that!"

Jane holds her hands up in mock surrender as she continues walking. "Fine. Sorry."

Rebecca felt panic rising within her, her face falling to a helpless despair. "Jesus... I don't even know if we're safe. What if the herd is still following us?!"

Clement looks over his shoulder and down the path at the notion, his face hardening slightly as (Y/N) anxiously glances back as well.

"I'm-- I'm sure we're fine. The herd was headed the other direction, remember?" she tries to reassure.

"Exactly. We're fine." Jane agrees in a slightly annoyed tone.

"It's been quiet, but... Who knows," Rebecca speaks fearfully.

(Y/N) smiles reassuringly, though her brows were furrowed with concern. "We'll watch out for each other. Keep each other safe."

(?) Rebecca and Clement will remember that
