Asher's Pov-

I arrived at my apartment, feeling completely drained. After working  12-hour and going on a blind date, I desperately needed some rest. Surprisingly, this blind date turned out to be a lot of fun, and it left me with a smile on my face. Thoughts of Sophia, the girl I had just met, kept swirling in my mind.

You see, my parents were eager for me to settle down and get married soon, even though I hadn't been very interested in dating due to my demanding work schedule. But my mother, in her relentless pursuit of finding me a suitable bride, had shown me a picture of Sophia the day before. I was taken aback by her transformation. Her hair was longer than I remembered, and she no longer wore glasses. She looked absolutely radiant, naturally beautiful. I couldn't resist saying yes to a blind date with her, much to my mother's delight. Finally, she didn't have to go the extra mile to set me up!

However, when I met Sophia in person, she appeared quite different from the picture. She was wearing a short dress that seemed to make her uncomfortable. She claimed to have dated seven men before, but I had a feeling she was exaggerating. It almost seemed like she was intentionally trying to sabotage the date. Despite that, I couldn't help but chuckle at her antics. But then something unexpected happened. She touched me, and my heart started racing. Her face was so close to mine, as if she was about to kiss me. Ahh, the desire to taste her lips even just once overwhelmed me.

I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. It's amazing how even after all these years, she still had that adorable charm from high school.

My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the ringing of my phone. Startled, I quickly answered it, only to find my mom's voice on the other end. "Hey there," I greeted. "How was your blind date?" my mom inquired eagerly. "It went well," I replied. "Really? You're being honest with me?" she asked. "Yeah, Mom, I'm telling the truth. I actually had a great time," I assured her.

She chuckled with delight. "Oh my goodness... I can't believe my son actually liked a girl I set him up with." "Well, Mom," I began, "here's the thing. I already knew Sophia before the date. We were classmates in high school." There was a brief pause on the other end of the line as my mom processed this information.

"So, what's your decision?" she finally asked. The thought of going on more dates was daunting, especially with my busy work schedule. I took a deep breath and made up my mind. "I've decided... I'll marry her."

"REALLY? You're serious about marrying her?" my mom exclaimed. "Yes, Mom, I'm sure. I want to marry her," I confirmed. She couldn't contain her joy. "OH MY GOD!! Finally, you're ready to settle down. I'm going to share this wonderful news with your father." With that, she abruptly ended the call.

My parents had been eagerly waiting for me to tie the knot and start a family. I didn't want to keep them waiting any longer. Sophia was a genuinely nice girl, and I could tell she had changed and grown over the years. Plus, I knew Sophia's parents for a long time, so I had interacted with them many times before. It was just a matter of not realizing that Sophia was their daughter. It was a surprising twist, but I was ready to embrace it.

Sophia's pov-

"What??" I exclaimed, my eyes widening in shock as I nearly choked on my breakfast. I couldn't believe what I had just heard. Sitting at the table with my family, I couldn't help but notice the unusually joyful expressions on my parents' faces. They were practically beaming at each other, and I had to know why.

Curiosity getting the better of me, I blurted out, "Why do you both look so darn happy today?" My mom couldn't contain her excitement and replied, "Oh, honey, you won't believe it! Asher wants to marry you!" My jaw practically hit the floor.

"Wait, hold up, Mom. Say that one more time," I asked, needing to make sure I heard correctly. "Asher Walker, the guy I went on that blind date with, wants to marry me?"  How could he go from a single date to proposing marriage? It seemed too hard to believe.

My mom shrugged and said, "Why would I lie, sweetheart? He genuinely wants to marry you." I couldn't help but scoff, my skepticism taking over. "But how on earth could he agree to marry me after just one date?" I asked.

My dad chimed in, his voice filled with pride, "Sophia, my dear, you underestimate yourself. You're beautiful, intelligent, and captivating. Of course, he would want to marry you after just one date!" I couldn't help but roll my eyes at his response. High school memories flooded my mind, where Asher barely even spoke to me. And now, he suddenly wanted to spend the rest of his life with me? It was hard to believe.

Taking a deep breath, I mustered the courage to speak my truth. "I'm sorry, but I can't marry him," I declared firmly. My dad looked genuinely puzzled, asking, "Why not, Sophia? He's handsome, rich, tall, and He's practically the whole package!"

I clenched my fists, trying to find the right words. "Dad, it's not about his looks or his wealth. It's about what I want for my own life. I don't want to marry anyone right now. I'm happy being single"

"I know, I know that you are happy alone. But how long you can live like this? Sophia one day, your mom and me both will be gone. You need someone who stay with you when no one else will. With whom you can grow old." My dad said.

"I understand what you want to say. But I can't say that Asher is right for me" I said. "Just give him a chance" "What do you mean by a chance? It's about a marriage, not a relationship or something"

"Okay, you don't want to marry him, right?" My mom asked. I nodded. "Then go on a blind date with Blake Hannes tomorrow" She said.

I frowned. "Can you please stop pushing me into all of this?"

But my mom was determined. "No, I won't stop until you find someone to settle down with. How about this? Take some time to think about it. I think asher is right guy for you."

I let out a deep sigh. "Alright, I'll take some time to think about it."

My mom nodded, a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "Good. Just make sure your answer is a yes because Celine Walker invited us for dinner tonight"
