Sophia's Pov-
"Why this gown is so heavy?"
I couldn't believe the weight of the gown my mom picked for my wedding. I mean, seriously, it was so heavy! But she insisted, saying, "Honey, that's how a wedding dress is supposed to be!" Meanwhile, she was busy perfecting her own makeup in the mirror, completely unfazed by my struggle. Then Evelyn, my best friend, took one look at me and gasped dramatically, "Wow, you're looking absolutely stunning!" My mom couldn't help but chime in, "Oh, yes! The groom won't know what hit him when he sees you!" They both started squealing like a couple of teenage girls at a boy band concert.
But then I caught a glimpse of my dad wiping away tears. It hit me like a ton of bricks—I never expected my wedding day to be emotional.
Trying to lighten the mood, my mom said, "Come on, honey, don't cry. Look how beautiful our princess looks." My dad, still teary-eyed, added, "I can't believe she's all grown up and getting married. It feels like just yesterday she was playing dress-up with her dolls."
I sighed. I leaned in close to Evelyn and whispered, "You know, I should probably record this whole thing so I can watch it later and have a good laugh after my divorce." Evelyn looked at me in shock, her eyes wide.
"Wait, you took my advice seriously?" she asked, disbelief written all over her face. I shrugged and replied, "Well, you're the one who gave me this advice!"
But, Evelyn's expression turned serious, and she said, "Forget about escape plans and divorce. You're about to marry Asher, your first crush. Give this marriage a chance, and let yourself be happy." Her words hit me like a wake-up call.
Before I could respond, my dad gently interrupted, saying, "It's time, my dear." I took a deep breath and nodded to my dad.
............The door swung open, and there stood my dad, right by my side. I couldn't help but take in the breathtaking scene around me. The decorations were absolutely stunning, with white and pink flowers adorning the beautifully decorated aisle.
But my attention quickly shifted to the Asher, my groom. He looked as handsome as ever, with his mesmerizing ocean blue eyes and a small smile playing on his lips.
With my dad by my side, I took a deep breath and began walking down the aisle. I have to admit, my gown was a bit challenging to handle, but I managed to navigate it without any mishaps. What a relief!
As my dad handed me over to Asher, he whispered, "Take care of my daughter." Asher smiled and nodded, reassuring my dad that he would cherish and protect me. Just as I took a step forward, disaster struck - I accidentally stepped on my own dress! I braced myself for an embarrassing fall, but before I knew it, Asher swiftly caught me, pulling me into his arms. Instead of stumbling, I found myself wrapped in a warm, comforting hug.
I heard the clapping and cheering sound of guests, my face buried into Asher's neck. I immediately stood straight and took two steps back from him.
"Careful," Asher whispered, his voice filled with concern. I simply nodded.
The wedding ceremony began, and all eyes were on us. The priest looked at Asher and asked, "Do you, Asher Walker, take Sophia Brownlee to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love, honor, and cherish, in sickness and in health, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, forsaking all others, as long as you both shall live?"
I held my breath, waiting for his answer. Asher's voice filled the room as he confidently replied, "I do." And he slid the ring onto my finger.
Then, it was my turn. The priest turned to me and asked, "Do you, Sophia Brownlee, take Asher Walker to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love, honor, and cherish, in sickness and in health, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, forsaking all others, as long as you both shall live?"
I looked down and whispered, "I do." With shaky hands, I carefully placed the ring onto Asher's finger, hoping he wouldn't notice my shaky hands.
The moment everyone had been waiting for arrived when the priest declared, "You may kiss the bride." My eyes widened. Noo. At this moment i wanted to run away. I silently wished we could skip the kiss, but I knew it was a traditional part of the ceremony.
As Asher took a step closer, his hand gently cupped my cheek while his other hand rested on my waist. I closed my eyes, feeling his warm breath on my lips. But instead of a kiss on the lips, I felt a soft kiss on my cheek. My eyes fluttered open, and I found myself locked in Asher's gaze. A small smile played on his lips as he whispered, "Congratulations, wife."
I did not what to say, I could only stare at him. Asher slowly withdrew his hands, turned his face towards the guest who were clapping and smiling at us.
