Sophia's Pov-
I was standing next to Evelyn while my dear husband was engrossed in conversation with his friends, Tristan and Jacob. Our parents were deep in their own discussions, seemingly oblivious to the fact that I was the bride. It felt like nobody cared about me. It was a bit disheartening.
"I just want to go home and get some sleep," I yawned, feeling completely drained of energy.
Evelyn, always the playful one, responded with a smirk, "Yes, you'll go home with Asher and sleep with him." I shot her a look that said, "Are you crazy?"
"I was just joking," she quickly clarified. "But, married couple sleep together"
I muttered under my breath "I won't be sleeping with him." Evelyn sighed.
Suddenly, my mom appeared out of nowhere and asked, "What are you two doing?" I responded sarcastically, "Oh, just celebrating my marriage." Evelyn chuckled, knowing exactly how I felt.
"Go to Asher and ask him to dance with you," my mom ordered. I rolled my eyes and replied, "No way." She let out a sigh. "Sophia, just do as I say," she demanded. I rolled my eyes."okay fine" immediately, I made my way towards Asher.
"Hey," I whispered to him from behind. At first, he didn't seem to hear me. I tried again, "Asher." This time, he turned around and smiled. "Oh hey, wife," he said. For God's sake, don't call me that. I have a name. I simply smiled back at him.
Then, I noticed Tristan and Jacob smiling at me too. Jacob said, "Hey Sophia, I hope you didn't forget about us." I replied, "Yeah, how could I forget you both?" We exchanged handshakes. Later, they excused us and went away.
Now I was standing next to Asher, feeling completely nervous. I wonder why I felt so jittery around him. Maybe it was because he was my first crush, and the thought of asking him to dance made my palms sweaty.
Summoning all my courage, I turned to him, my gaze fixed on a spot just beside him. "Umm... you know how to dance?" I stammered, my voice betraying my nerves. Asher looked at me with a warm smile and replied confidently, "Yes."
With a surge of bravery, I took a deep breath and asked, "Wanna dance with me?" I tried my best to sound confident, although my heart was pounding in my chest. he said, "Yes," and gently grabbed my hand, leading me to the dance floor.
Soft music filled the air, creating a romantic atmosphere. As we started dancing, I kept my gaze down. I didn't want to look up and meet his gaze.
Suddenly, Asher broke the silence, asking out of nowhere, "Are you nervous?" Startled, I looked up at him, our eyes meeting. His piercing blue eyes captured my attention, causing my heart to race even faster. "Noo," I whispered, my voice barely audible.
He smiled warmly and gently teased, "Then why aren't you looking at me?" I mustered up the courage to respond, "I'm looking at you now." His smile widened. "Yes, you're looking at me now." and we continued dancing, our eyes locked in a silent conversation.
As the song played on, I stole glances at our parents, who were beaming with joy. My mom, in particular, seemed overjoyed, and I rolled my eyes at her. She caught my gesture and chuckled. as the song came to an end, we stopped dancing.
Finally, the long-awaited moment arrived when it was time for me to go home with Asher. I had assumed we would be living with his parents, but to my surprise, I discovered that we would be living alone together. The thought of living alone with a man made me a bit scared, to be honest.
my mom hugged me tightly. "Sophia, how am I ever going to survive without you? I'll miss you so much, my dear," she said, her voice filled with sadness. Trying to lighten the mood, I playfully teased her, i said, "Mom, if you want, I can leave Asher and stay with you. Then you won't have to miss me." My mom's expression quickly changed, and she scolded me, "Sophia, for heaven's sake, you're married now. Stop with your jokes!"
We both chuckled and embraced each other tightly. "I'll miss your daily scoldings," I whispered in her ear. She hugged me back, her grip tightening.
Turning to my dad, I could see the struggle in his eyes to hold back tears. I hugged him tightly, feeling the warmth of his embrace. "I'll miss you so much, Sophia," my dad said. "I'll miss you too, Dad," I replied, tears streaming down my face.
Asher joined us, standing by my side. "Please take care of her," my dad said to Asher. He nodded and replied, "I promise, sir. I will take good care of her."
As we finally made our way to the car, Asher kindly opened the door for me, helping me inside before taking his seat beside me. The engine roared to life, and we began our journey.
The car ride was filled with a heavy silence. Asher was engrossed in a phone call, discussing some urgent business matters, while I stared out of the window, lost in my own thoughts. Exhaustion washed over me, making my eyelids heavy.
As the car came to a stop, I gasped at the sight before me. A grand mansion stood tall and majestic, its beauty taking my breath away. Asher chuckled at my reaction.
"We will live here?"
Asher nodded proudly. "It belonged to my grandfather, and now it's mine. We will be living here from now on." he explained. The mansion was breathtakingly beautiful and much larger than any house I had ever seen, even my dad's and his parents' mansion. It felt like a lot of space for just the two of us.
As we stepped inside the mansion, two maids carried my luggage to the room. Asher excused himself to attend a business call, leaving me to explore on my own.
I entred to Asher's room. It was a big room with walls painted in shades of black and gray. A king-sized bed in the center, a large couch other side. The most striking feature was a big magnificent painting of the moon hanging on the wall.
"All black," I murmured to myself. the room's aesthetic didn't align with my personal taste. But I knew i can't do anything about it. It's his room after all and i had to live here with him. With a tired sigh, I opened my suitcase, eager to change into comfortable clothes and sleep.
After a refreshing shower, I stepped out of the bathroom, but Asher was still absent. Well, I wasn't going to wait for him. I decided to turn off the lights and settle in for the night, not giving much thought to his whereabouts.
