Chapter 8

||18 by One Direction ||

Ethan felt his eyes slowly start to open up and he felt a bit disoriented as he did so. He could hear the voices talking and he recognized it to be the sound of Aleks's and someone else.

"For fucks sake, I'm just doing what she told me to do, I'm doing her a favor." Ethan could hear Aleks's voice in the distance.

"Just hurry up, he still has to earn his place." A voice replied, making Ethan open his eyes and trying to get used to the sunlight.

Both voices went silent.

"Leave." He heard Aleks say, and heard footsteps walking away.

He felt his mind race as he slowly opened up his eyes and saw Aleks's face right in front of his own. The light from the outside was being blocked off by his face, which was a comfort to him at that moment.

"Morning."

"Morning..?" Ethan said in a sleepy tone of voice. He didn't know what to say after he woke up, and was too tired to say anything meaningful.

"You slept for quite a long time." Aleks chuckled softly.

Ethan looked at the boy and felt like his mind was so foggy from the sleep he just had that he couldn't say anything at all.

He nodded his head slightly as an answer as he felt even more groggy and his eyes felt even heavier.

Ethan just felt like he wanted to sleep more or just lay for a little while longer, but he needed to get up if he wanted to know what the boy was saying to him now.

"Breakfast is about to start."

Ethan became a bit anxious at the word "Breakfast", but also felt like he could use some food right now to wake himself up.

"Breakfast..? Now..?" Ethan said in a half groggy half tired voice. He felt his body start to wake up as he slowly started to sit up.

He looked at the boy once again and then realized how close they were at that moment.

"Let's go." Aleks said as he held his hand out for Ethan to take it and stand up.

Ethan smiled brightly at the gesture as he took the boy's hand gently and got up to his feet. He started to feel a lot more awake and energetic as he walked with the boy towards the camp's breakfast.

"See you." Aleks said as they arrived at the pavilion and he went to Apollo's table.

"Hey... Aleks... wait." Ethan said to the boy as he turned so he was facing the boy standing at the Apollo table. "Do you... Do you mean for us to see eachother again somewhere later after breakfast?.. Or..?"

"Sure. In the same spot?"

Ethan instantly relaxed when he heard Aleks say "Sure" since now he knew he was at least going to be able to see the boy again later that morning.

"Of course... in the same spot in a little while." He responded with a genuine smile and a nod.

Ethan then walked towards his own table.

Ethan was finally completely awake once more as he got out of the Hermes cabin and headed towards the spot where he and Aleks would meet again.

He felt nervous about seeing the boy again after all of the events that had happened, but his love for the boy was strong enough to keep him driven to see that boy once more.

He got to the spot where he would be meeting Aleks and waited patiently for the boy to show up.

Ethan felt his heart start to beat a little faster as the boy arrived at the spot where the two of them agreed to meet.

His face instantly lit up when he saw the boy arrive and he tried to maintain the smile as he began opening his mouth to say something.

"Um... Hey... I... I know that it's only been a few hours but I... I wanted to ask you something." Ethan said in a soft and nervous tone.

"What is it?"

Ethan felt his heart racing once more but instead of feeling anxious like he had before, he felt a rush within him that was even more intense than before.

"Umm... I know that we're not technically friends for that long yet but... Um... I..." Ethan tried to speak but was completely flustered by the presence of the boy he was so close to right now.

"I'm... Um... I'm just... I'm..." Ethan's body felt like it couldn't handle the anxiety that the boy caused him. He felt overwhelmed by all the emotions flowing through him and didn't know what else to say right now.

Ethan's voice continued to go silent as he felt like he couldn't say what he had wanted to say. Instead, he decided to let his actions speak for itself and reached out to the boy, gently taking his hand and holding it closely.

He felt his face glow as he held the boy's hand on his own, but hoped that the boy would be able to understand what he was trying to say.

"Yes. I'd love to be your boyfriend, Ethan." Aleks said, answering just what Ethan couldn't say.

Ethan felt like his world had stopped when he heard the boy answer for him like that. Aleks just knew what he was planning to say without him doing anything.

Ethan felt like his body was covered in a million butterflies as he smiled softly at the boy.

"I'd love... I'd love to be your boyfriend as well..." Ethan said in a shaky yet soft voice as he looked straight into the boy's eyes.

Aleks smiled back.

He looked at the boy and felt himself wanting to hug him so much and just express all the affection that he had for the boy at that moment.

"How... How about a hug..?" Ethan asked the boy in a soft voice as he looked at the boy once again.

"So now you're taking the lead, huh?" Aleks laughed softly.

Ethan felt his face turn a bit red at the boy's response. He felt like he could laugh about the comment too, but wanted to hold the boy so much after a comment like that.

"Yes... I am..." Ethan started talking and then stopped himself since he felt like he was thinking too much about it.

He just nodded at the boy and gently pulled the two of them together, hugging the boy tightly and burying his face into the boy's chest as he held onto the boy close.

He felt happy at how well both of them understood each other at this point.
