Sarah's POV:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Slaves scurried about in the dark musty room. Deep under the earth, the only light allowed were coal fires. Sitting in the throne made of bones, Lucifer Malum sat gloomily, tapping his fingers on a skull. Sarah finished dusting the bones, then retreated, her head bowed with the red curls acting as a curtain for her eyes.
A shadow entered swiftly and flattened itself to the floor before the 'king.' The sound of a soft wind that was nearly whispers filled the room. Lucifer was nodding his head as his eyes fixed his gaze on the flattened shadow. Suddenly, he sprang to his feet. "Enough flattery! Bid them to enter!" Swiftly, the shadow retreated, but only for a moment. Sarah shuddered within herself. Ever since she was brought here to work as a slave, she had hated the shadows.
Suddenly, the shadow returned, escorting a man and a woman. The man had jet black hair that was spiked on the top. He wore dark gray clothing and had a sword at his side. His mouth was curved up into an evil smile and his eyes glistened with hatred. The woman beside him was about nineteen years of age, her red hair in layers and layers of ringlets. Her two green eyes widened as they fixed themselves upon Sarah. Her mouth opened slightly in astonishment. But soon enough, the moment had gone, and she was bowing before the false lord.
"Mighty Lucifer Malum!" the man praised, his head still bowed. "You are the ruler of the world! The rightful heir of heaven and earth. All glory and praise to you, my king."
"All glory and praise to you!" Kaya repeated.
Lucifer raised his chin and said, "What have you come for, Dryan?"
"We have come to give you a report. We have laid hands on a blasphemer, a servant of Adonai. We ask your permission to dispose of her."
"Her?" Lucifer cocked an eyebrow. "What is her name?"
Dryan hesitated. "Fae, my lord." A gasp was heard at the back of the room. Quicker than lightning, Dryan turned his head. He caught a glimpse of a skirt swishing down the hallway.
Lucifer had become impatient. "Fae . . . ?"
Again, Dryan hesitated. "Cahira." He and Kaya spat in unison.
Sarah was running as fast as she could. The hallway was dim but also blurry, as the tears had been running down her cheeks since she left the throne room. Sobbing, she took a left, opened a door and shut it behind her as she entered the room. She threw herself down upon the bed and cried her heart out.
After she had finished crying, she wiped her eyes delicately with a handkerchief. She walked over to the door and bolted it. Then she knelt down on the floor, and began to remove the floor boards. She drew a beautiful box from the floor. Already, a smile was taking form upon her face. She took a deep breath and very slowly began to open the lid. Golden light burst from the box, filling the room with a warm glow. Sarah reached in and drew out a golden book. Sitting upon the bed, she opened it, and began to read.
