Immanuel

I watched in confidence as Lucifer began to shake in fear, although his face remained shrouded behind his calm facade. His scarlet eyes narrowed in pure hatred as he stared at Adonai's Son. I knew he could see what I was seeing. Except in his eyes he witnessed his growing defeat. To me it was our victory.

He growled, "Hello, Immanuel, what brings you to my domain?" He emphasized the word domain as if to assert his wavering courage.

I watched in growing fascination as Immanuel calmly strode over. He didn't stop until he was face to face with the devil. "I've come to rescue my children."

Lucifer spat on the ground and smirked evilly. "These little rats are yours? It seems that you got the last pick."

The Son of Man lifted His hand to show off the scars that ordained His hands. "They are my children, bought by my sacrifice." He glared at Lucifer, His eyes burning with a passionate love. "You have no hold on them. Be gone!"

Without anyone even touching it, the throne of bones cracked. The interior held together with lies and cruelty was crumbling, every skull, and bone flung to the floor. My shock intensified when Lucifer started thrashing on the ground on top of his diminished throne. The guards didn't witness any of Lucifer's conversation with the Son of Man, but they did see the throne break.

Lucifer rose, fumbled with his crown, and yelled, "Kill them!"

My facial expression didn't change, I knew what was coming. All I did was smile at the guards, as they charged full speed towards us with raised spears. The Son of Man turned and waved his hand in the air. In less than a second, we were surrounded by a fire made halo. A sharp pain entered my arm, and I spun around to see Asher, pale faced in fear. "Fae, what are we going to do?"

It struck me. Asher wasn't seeing our Savior, he wasn't privy to the protection that outnumbered the evil. I lifted my head to the heavens and prayed, "Adonai, please open his eyes!"

Suddenly Asher rose from his spot; the pressure from his hands loosened on my poor arm. Amazement danced across his eyes as a small smile tugged at his lips. "Thank you Adonai." I praised silently. As soon as the guards hit the wall of fire, they were powerfully flung to the ground until not one was standing.

Lucifer growled. "You may have been able to save those two but I still have control over the other one!" His lips curled up into a malicious smile. "Yes, he is still mine to do with as I please."

A pained look flashed across the Son of Man's face, but without a word he turned away from Lucifer and walked away. I looped my arm with Asher's and bolted after him. I could still hear Lucifer cursing Adonai and yelling, "He's still mine! They won't be able to change that!" until his voice could no longer be heard.

We walked through the long dreadful hallways for twenty minutes. Asher asked, "Why did he call you Immanuel?"

The Son of Man turned around and smiled. "Because that was my human name. I am both Immanuel and the Son of Man. You can call me Immanuel if you want."

Asher cocked his head. "Human name? I'm so confused, aren't you a human now?"

I watched Immanuel focus His eyes on a nearby door and headed toward it. "You will soon find your answers," He started to twist the door knob. " But first, we need to visit someone."
